I think he fell into the hole most of SA does, picked on name/reputation/eduscation, shows potential so isn’t challenged and falls into mediocrity. Continues to get selected because the relationships built over the years of getting a good ride.I don't know what happened to Jake Lehmann. When he started out he looked to have a Test career in front of him. He scored three centuries and averaged 44.50 in his first season but since then he has lost his way. His first class average currently stands at 32.64 and he gets to 50 often enough but does not go on with it.
It isn’t coincidental that our most successful years in the last 25-30 came under a Victorian, Darren Berry who wasn’t scared to challenge the status quo. Hopefully Chicksy, after a fair stint away from SA has the strength and conviction to tell the establishment to jam it, when required!
