I would say that all the major cricketing nations in the world would have to have viable T20 competitions, which are watched and recognised by international audiences, before another Champions League could be run again. I reckon there would have to be brand recognition by other nations before a another attempt could be made. Unfortunately, this would require a concerted, coordinated effort to make sure there is some sort of free-to-air coverage of each country's competition around the world, be it highlights or the finals series from each country. It would also require a calendar which allows stand alone time for each competition, so that each country has the global T20 spotlight on them once a year. If every competition is relatively short, it could be done; and it could build to a Champions League finale every calendar year.

But I think it's a tough ask unfortunately.

is there a deal with cricket Aus and Gray Nicholls regarding helmets or are players sponsored by Gray nicholls forced to wear Gray Nicholls helmets when playing for Australia. I have noticed this for a while now. A few of the Gray Nicholls boys seem to wear Masuri Helmets in the domestic scene but instantly switch over to Gray Nicholls when selected for Aus.

That's pretty sad. One of the cases where the correctness of society has gone a little too far.

This probably contradicts what I said in the first line but I kind of associate the VB logo on the yellow shirt with cricket and summer whilst I was younger.

Cooper's are desperate for some good press :p
Can't wait for the 'Is Mitch Marsh a spud' debate between selector Mark Waugh and your average facebook commenter.

Which part? The part where VB has chosen to no longer sponsor cricket but will retain presence in other sports, or the part where CA have already indicated they've got a new alcohol sponsor lined up?

interesting considering that CA has to replace both Commonwealth bank and VB as shirt sponsors.

I disagree. Religious reasons are stupid. Like when those NRL players didn't want to play on Sunday.
I really recommend you review what you just said. There are people that do things for religious things all the time. It is stated in the Quran, that you are not allowed to drink alcohol. Usman is a religious man, and it's something that he stands by. This means that he cannot also advertise an alcohol brand.

I doubt you'll see Afghanistan or a Middle Eastern soccer club would be sponsored by an alcoholic brand.

That might be to you, but resting and not working on the Sabbath is an entirely valid reason to them and those of that faith

I think the apt reply to this is: you're stupid. Respect other people's opinions and beliefs and let them do whatever they want.

I don't think it will be too long before alcohol and betting advertising go the way of tobacco advertising to be honest. Maybe not to the same level of putting them in plain cupboards, but at least to the point where they won't be allowed to advertise in sports.

Australia had VB as an overseas tour partner for a while and I think part of the reason they came back to the home summer was they couldn't sponsor the team when they played in the UAE.
Even back in 2005 the World XI had to work around having Johnnie Walker logos on the players' kits - that's why they didn't use any words, just had the "walking man" logo on them. I don't know if the ICC even has an alcohol partner any more, given the demographic of the international cricket community and supporters.
