Great work by Dizzy over in Parkeestarn.

Team gets smashed on a flat track, removes most of the big name batters, gets a fairly decent spinning pitch and stitches up the Poms.

Pitch was hard to bat on but not impossible, some balls went straight, some went 45 degree. Just saying Head would have cleaned up on that wicket.
Dizzy said on radio that after 1 test he and the captain were relieved of selection duties which is mind blowing, but then again its Pakistan.

Our batting stocks would have to be at an all time low wouldnt they?

No obvious successor to Warner despite him having a farewell longer than John Farnham. Smith cant buy a run and looks horribly out of form with the end seemingly coming towards him like a freight train, Ussie is getting towards the end but probably wont have the scrutiny on him due to already having an opener void.

Who are the likely candidates to come in if need be? Where are the Lehman's, Loves, Hodges, Rogers, Husseys who just rack up the runs summer after summer.

I can see McSweeney possibly being the next one up, but there dont seem to be too many others putting their hand up.

The amount of interference and politics in some countries cricket is mind-blowing

The International Cricket Council has suspended Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) on Friday on account of ‘government interference’. The suspension of the cricket board came merely a day after Sri Lanka's last group match in the 2023 World Cup, where the side won only two of nine matches.

"The ICC Board met today and determined that Sri Lanka Cricket is in serious breach of its obligations as a Member, in particular, the requirement to manage its affairs autonomously and ensure that there is no government interference in the governance, regulation and/or administration of cricket in Sri Lanka,” a release by cricket's governing body stated.

The conditions of the suspension will be decided by the ICC Board in due course.”

Troubles in the Sri Lankan cricket board began soon after the side's disastrous 302-run defeat to India at the 2023 World Cup, where it was bowled out for merely 55. Soon after the loss, the sports minister sacked the entire cricket board, further deepening the crisis situation. Sri Lanka Cricket, however, was soon reinstated by the court of appeal.

On Thursday, a joint government and opposition resolution in parliament demanded the resignation of the SLC's management, according to news agency PTI.

The government, which is split over the minister's decision to sack the SLC board of management, came out with a report, recommending a brand new constitution for the governing body with a new voting structure to appoint office bearers.

Could you imagine our federal sports minister (Anika Wells... I had to look it up) weighing in and sacking our cricket board?

Not totally without precedent here.

I believe that during the WSC days, the NSW government sacked the SCG board, enabling lights to be put up at the ground and WSC to be played there.

Konstas hasn't done himself any favours in the bat-off, making a duck against India A in Mackay. No dodgy LBW decision this time - he was out caught behind.

Looking at the scorecard, it appears the pitch might have a bit of life in it - India A were bowled out for 107 in only 47.4 overs.

So far the combined scoreboard is 11/112 for the day.

... and now Bancroft has followed him back to the pavilion, also with a goose egg next to his name.

This continues Bancroft's horrible start to the season. So far he's scored 4, 0, 0, 33, 8, 2, 14, 0 in his innings this season.

EDIT: Bancroft was given out caught down legside. Apparently replays showed that it came off his thigh pad, not the bat. This is just bad luck for him, at a time when he really didn't need it.

Nothing really wrong with the pitch, Khawaja said it in an interview during the week it’s more to do with the ball they now use in Australia. The more pronounced seam on the Kookaburra ball now just jags in more off the pitch which as a consequence also causes the ball that just holds its line to get a lot more wickets now too. That said from the clips from this match I’ve seen been some real ordinary batting happening in this specific game.

Also starting not to subscribe to this as even being a ‘bat-off’ especially when it was announced prior to the game that the wormy cockroach (Marcus Harris) was going to open in both ‘A’ games.

McDonald as coach along with the influential core of Cummins, Marsh & Head are all going to angle for Harris to return given the closeness of Harris’ relationships with the 4 of them - real Lachie Murphy being best mates with Dawson & Tex vibes.

Harris once again out to a crap shot outside off, his flaws are the exact same as they’ve always been. Bancroft should have been out for lbw before his dodgy dismissal, again same flaw that’s always been there.

McSweeney has been in the best and most consistent form out of the 4 candidates and if he can take the opportunity here, should be firming for that opening position.

The Indians obviously wanted Harris out there in the 1st Test too…

Unfortunately for them dropping him twice would look too suss, like you said typical ugly Harris dismissal…

Just look at that horror trigger movement he has prior to the bowlers release, has never tried to rectify it and it always causes him problems against any half-decent fast bowler.
