Its very quiet here. Cripps' lack of speed and defensive abilities are being exposed. Him being a goal kicking mid is a myth. What is it 1 goal for the year?Cripps is beyond cooked

I think it's more fair to say that he's somewhere in between the Bont/Trac/Oliver category and the Steele/Wines/Laird category.Cripps is a good player. But he is not the elite player the media pump him up to be. He’s not, and never has been, at the level of Bont, Petracca, Oliver, Neale.
He’s more of your Steele, Wines, Laird type. Still a good player. But not elite.
Wines doesnt belong alongside Laird and Steele. Laird is well ahead of Cripps the last 2 yearsI think it's more fair to say that he's somewhere in between the Bont/Trac/Oliver category and the Steele/Wines/Laird category.

I love you xLots of love to you too
Glad you agree
I think because Oliver gets 30 touches a game then it's easily to label him as just an accumulator. But in terms of power he has more power than Cripps, Bont and Petracca. Who is quicker of 10m, 20m, 30m? The answer is all Oliver. The guy is an athletic beast that is very underestimated.I love you x
However I don’t like looking at mids in categories like that, clearly where I think Cripps is too good for one but not the other.
It’s also hard to gauge through Cripps injuries & playing injured. The team success & so on.
Looking at it like Petracca, Cripps & Bont are three of the best damaging mids on their day. When they’re on they are impossible to stop, and barely able to be slowed down.
Neale, Mitchell (little more earlier days) & Oliver have been the ball winners who will have consistent impact over four quarters to grind their opponents into the ground through sheer workrate and creativity by hand to feed their teammates.
You can have some freakish players who have been able to do both, but it’s not quite often, and there’s seasons where the above three have put it together for long periods of time.
Hopefully you see where I’ve gone here

True I did. But many others have called him that also. Cripps is slow. And his lateral movement is horrific. Thats why he is poor defensively and his spread from the contest is poor. Oliver hits contests at about twice the power of Cripps. Once again, Oliver is taller than Petracca so, he's 189cm. So he's not small like Neale, Mitchell etc. He's no Cripps or Bont in terms of height but Cripps or Bont aren't as tall as Nikolas Cox so who really cares about height? No.
He absolutely does not.
Clarry isn’t just an accumulator, he’s pretty powerful but not to the same extent as the others, in measures of pace and explosiveness, but also agility and strength he isn’t as good as the others. And doesn’t provide the height and dynamic the others do. And from a pure dominance POV those three on their day are better than Oliver and others mentioned, they turn games. That’s the type of midfielder, but those three, Oliver, Mitchell & Neale will do the same damage over 4 quarters. So they’re different.
I take what you say with a grain of salt because, you said Cripps is a plodder and isn’t explosive

What damage has Cripps done this year? Where has his goals gone?
Oliver's agility is excellent. I'd still like to see him use his legs and power more than he does, but his extinct is to dish off to others.No.

These results are from the 2015 AFL Combine when he was still chubby:

Are you trying to tell me that Cripps and Bontempelli are faster than Oliver ?Agile yes
His power and explosiveness isn’t at the levels of those i mentioned.
And his damage isn’t, those others are in that category for damaging midfielders who are the best when they are on, but aren’t as consistent as the other three.
Speed is different to explosiveness. Are you trying to tell me that Cripps and Bontempelli are faster than Oliver ?
And as for ''damage'' wouldn't that partly be measured by score involvements ? Oliver averages the 5th most in the league.
But yes, I've always lamented he doesn't kick more goals.
As for power ? He's the most consistent 'contested possession' winner in history. I'm not sure there's much more evidence of power when you're a 189cm inside beast.
I doubt we'll end up on the same page re Oliver.
What parameters are you using to measure damage ?Speed is different to explosiveness.
No.
Yep
Power is more to do with strength and explosiveness.
Oliver is elite just not that type, although more than Neale/Mitchell. Clearly.
Damage for me is a damage per possession, what they do with it. Bont is explosive and powerful, he’s able to burst through or at the front of stoppages, he’s able to push forward and he has a defensive knack when on, he sets the tone completely and he is one of the best kicks in the competition, its a long raking kick, yet smart and silky. What parameters are you using to measure damage ?
Clearly, I don't agree with Cripps or Bontempelli being more ''explosive''. I contend the exact opposite is true.
With explosiveness, it’s the first few steps, it’s also the power to get through tackles. Oliver has good explosiveness but not to this level, however he’s able to maintain his top speed for longer.Damage for me is a damage per possession, what they do with it. When Cripps is on, he is a nightmare, almost impossible to tackle with all basis covered, he gets the ball from in to out with explosive power, he kicks goals and he can go forward and take marks, he sets the tone defensively and with his body and he leads. His kicking is that of Bontempelli of course, but he is just so powerful and strong that when he’s on he’s winning so much contested footy and he’s just a freak.
Just a couple examples.
Yeah look, I just don't agree. With explosiveness, it’s the first few steps, it’s also the power to get through tackles. Oliver has good explosiveness but not to this level, however he’s able to maintain his top speed for longer.
Oliver training? Might see them against one another Friday night. Wouldn’t that be a treat!
You don’t get any points for saying this, it discredits you completely.Yeah look, I just don't agree.
Cripps is 195cm, so yes he can break tackles, but it's not due to any ''explosiveness''. It's due to his size.
The bloke is as slow as treacle. He can't chase, so he's a liability defensively. He's about as explosive as a penny bunger.
And other than last year, the most goals Cripps has kicked in a year is 13. He's hardly in the company of Bontempelli or Petracca.
Three of Cripps last 4 years have been horrible. But at least people will always use the injury card to let him off the hook.
Why ?You don’t get any points for saying this, it discredits you completely.
