You truly are a knob and a troll.

Care to explain why?

Is it not true that bogans are ready to diss futbol and tag it as boring yet have no qualms in watching what is essentially the longest most boring game to watch? I refer to the exciting sport which is test cricket. 5 riverting days of non stop action.

I was once told that bogans love cricket not b/c the love of the game b/c it gives them a chance to excel at what they do best and that is being lazy such is the slowness of the game.

So i am just pointing out the irony at bogans calling sooccaaa boring.

Well the the rest of the world does..and i think thats saying something don't you think? I mean ask anyone around the world who Pele and straight away you get a smile and a comment about being the best ever.

you ask anyone outside Australia who Ron Barrassi is and they will first look at you with a blank expression and then wonder if its some bloke who played for AC Milan in the 50s.

That doesn't make it better, that makes it more popular. If the poms had've invented Aussie Rules and we'd invented soccer, the world game would be Aussie Rules. Soccer's only more popular because of English colonisation. We'd already invented our own game by the time soccer was bandied about down here, hence why it's nowhere near as popular as our indigenous sport.

Obviously whatever you like is based on personal preference but I personally, like many others, find soccer to be a total yawnfest. Bunch of guys making short passes to each other, only to turn it over on a regular basis and back the other way. Only about 2 mins of excitement in each game where a goal is actually scored.

No I wasn't talking about the Saints vs Hawks game on saturday night either...

Because you need to get off on goals? Such simple minds, its quite pathetic. 1-1 at Old trafford was riveting, 0-0 at stamford bridge wasn't...who knows why...oh thats right! You see in the game of football, teams have more than 1 competition to participate in, cos you see, our game is how do I put this...played in more than one country. So you see, Manchester had won the premiership, and had to concentrate on other games..are you keeping up with me? Cos there is more than one trophy on offer...are we clear yet? Do I need to illuminate more to you?

So your argument centres on the fact that soccer is better because it is played in more countries than AFL? You are truly an idiot. I would watch AFL if they only played it in WA. I don't care about how many competitions they have to participate in. One great one does me just fine. Much better than 600 teams playing a boring sport in 15 countries.

Why do you act like I am stupid when everything you have said shows your lack of intelligence? "Do I need to illuminate more to you?" Your sentence structure is poor and you have shown an inability to use words in the correct manner. Give me a real argument!

Never called them bogans. I called them idiots - which is what they are. I find it amusing this thread has by far the most replies by you boo-boys, just like the atmosphere better at soccer thread. Seems like you do actually care about your sport having the piss taken out of it. But its all quiet on the front when its the other way around I see? Yep, its you who are the walking contradiction

I noticed the AFL has tried expanding its borders...thats done a lot hahahahahahah, stop trying AFL...give it up, no one likes the sport, even the Yanks hate it, an being a member of a major NFL board...they really do hate it...yep...even the damn Yanks, thats sad

And the rest of the world matters because.....?

Who cares what the rest of the world plays? Since when did that become the arbiter of a sport's worthiness? Hooray, soccer is the most popular, big deal, good for it.

Perhaps this earth-shattering revelation will be enough to stop me watching AFL. Might as well become like all of the other sheepies and robots around the world who have become programmed to enjoy Soccer**™, The World Game™.

You're right.

There are no regular turnovers in AFL.

Soccer and cricket are entirely different games. It might also have a little to do with what people grow up with.

Anyway, cricket is as much a tactical game as anything else, which is what makes it interesting to many people. Soccer doesn't quite have the same tactical necessity.

For mine, I've never said soccer is boring. I don't care for it, but not because it's boring, it's just a sport I enjoy. Cricket can be boring also but it can also be very interesting.

Im glad you acknowledges its power, its about time

Not particularly. It's just a ridiculous argument. Global popularity isn't necessarily the measure of the worthiness of a sport. Just means that more people have been exposed to it.

That's another argument entirely - I daresay that soccer has many advantages, such as its inherent simplicity, which has fueled its growth. These are advantages that Aussie Rules will never enjoy, and so be it. We're happy enough enjoying the sport in its homeland and nothing further is necessary.

Why don't you actually do some research instead of making false claims? USAFL is actually growing quite strongly at the moment, with leagues based all across the country. It's also gaining strong popularity in South Africa because it can appeal to all social demographics whereas their others sports, mainly soccer and rugby, appeal to opposite sides of the social spectrum. Rugby is pretty much seen as only for the upper classes and soccer is almost exclusively played amongst the poor.

Japan is also starting to embrace AFL quite a lot now too. There's a lot of interest in the game over there and it's also being played in schools over the past few years in place of other sports.

Now obviously AFL has a very long road before it becomes international and will obviously never be on the scale of soccer but it is growing quite rapidly in popularity and interest.

I'd much rather watch AFL than that joke of a competition called the FIFA World Cup...

Maybe you should ban everyone on this board who doesnt agree with you.

Disagreement is not the same as trolling. It is quite possible to have a civil argument with disagreements. Naffing about calling those who disagree or who dislike your chosen code idiots, bogans etc is simple trolling.

It matters because football, the round variety, is a real sport which gets next to no coverage in the mainstream media and still gets derision from many in this country. AFL on the other hand is more of novelty sport, like Bull Fighting in Spain and Gaelic football in Ireland. Nothing wrong with that, but the fans just need some perspective. Even those countries I mentioned have the maturity to recognise what the most important sport happens to be.

What makes soccer a real sport and AFL a novelty sport?

Move to England.

oh my how very ignorant and small minded of you.

Care to explain why? Because the popular cheerleader is always the most worthy character, right?

Soccer is the most popular sport in the world, therefore we ought to drop our indigenous sports and take that it up - that seems to be the logic employed by you lot. I am sick and tired of it. I will not be told that I should simply follow along with the global crowd. It's crap logic.

Ummm a couple of fat ex pats playing in a park with make shfit plastic posts does not warrant an expansion or growth. it's laughable the claims you make.

Many years ago the tried to show AFl games in South America..and they chased them out of the continent quick smart due to its stupid nature.

A real sport, as opposed to that false sport AFL.

Please tell me your objective criteria for defining a real sport, if you would.

TIA.

Yep, I'm sold now, a kid with a massive chip on his shoulders throwing what amounts to a sad tantrum has me fixed on the idea of Football (Soccer) and I now relise that it's the only sport deserving enough to be talked about or watched.

I'm going to get right into my new found passion. First stop AFL and NRL and Cricket forums where I'll tell them they're all idiots in posts that are full of poor spelling... hold on I'll start now -

cos BTW its Football not soccer only stupid bogens call it soccer and your all insular!!! stupid bogans i hate you, you all so stupid, soccer is the world game, played everywhere! (A1 is actually the only single sport in the world that represents over 90% of the worlds population in it's major events, the World cup was missing the likes of India and China and places like the U.S.A are given a free ride in even though they're not amongst the best 34 countries in the world.)

you all dont like football because you are just stupid and all racist thats it isnt it?!?!?!

you can all like what you want i dont care but football is the world game, more than 1 country have big leagues and heaps of competitions so your all stupid for liking AFL (AFL is the league, Aussie Rules is the sport so based on that I'll throw that poor way of speaking into my new post to convince everyone that soccer is best, from now on I'll call soccer EPL) you people playing your NRL you dont know what your missing, you so stupid to think EPL is boaring I love EPL and play EPL more people play EPL in the world than any other sport even women can play EPL its that good.

So before you start ranting at me stupid AFL fans, go and watch an EPL game where the atmosphere is great (Been to a Leeds v Liverpool match a few years ago when I was in England and I actually found the atmosphere at a League match between Leeds and Hull better.) AFL atmosphere is stupid and they have no chants or songs!

-

I bet that'll convince almost everyone who reads it ;)
