Cummins Overrated?

Why can't we produce more cricketers who are overrated as he is?

That inswinging yorker to remove Pope was an absolute howitzer and was, with hindsight, a signal of intent. He wasn't going down without a fight, and neither was the team.

Cummins is underrated as a cricketer due to his woke political views. I got a nice reminder of good he can be with the bat too, given he hadn't done much with the bat for quite a while.

What exactly do you mean by woke?

He did some ads promoting climate action and said he agreed that racism is bad. Pretty moderate views I would’ve thought.

Pat Cummins Ave: 21.59, SR: 47.12
Glenn McGrath Ave: 21.64, SR: 51.95

He’s a better bat and fielder, and is on track to be one of our greatest ever captains.

It’s not a stretch to say Pat is already better, I wouldn’t, but if he keeps this up for another 30-50 tests he will be.

Woke is just the new version of you must be a communist if you disagree with anything i say, just an easy catch all term fascists can use to rile up their dumbarse base.

Was funny florida governors lawyers were forced to define "woke" in court they defined it as “belief that there are systematic injustices in American society and the need to address them" thats their boogie man the idea people want to make things a bit better and we hate them for it.

He's one of those people who goes on about the environment and climate change as if Australians are responsible.
These people need to take aim at China and India as that's where the majority of carbon emissions come from.

Only so westerners can buy cheap stuff from their factories.

And we still emit way more per capita.

He hardly “goes on about it”, he’s done a few ads.

In none of those has he blamed Australia, just suggested there are things we could be doing.

Realistically, Pat Cummins would have zero influence on China or India in this context, so what would be the point?

What’s actually happened is certain media giants have labelled him as woke and tried to discredit him as a cricketer, because he’s opposed to their interests.

Only by a small minority of ****head conservatives.

Majority recognize he is one of our first finest fast bowlers ever, and certainly best since McGrath.

Na McGrath didn't play in the T20 era, batsmen don't have the mental strength to play long innings now aday, easier to get wickets now.

By the same token there were more genuine tail enders when McGrath played, once you got through the top/middle order you could get the tail much easier. These days, not so much; Ravi Ashwin - a bloke with 5 test centuries - bats at 8, Jason Holder - 2 tons - bats at 8, Stuart Broad bats at 9 and has a test century.

Overall test averages by batting positions 7-11 have risen significantly over the last 15 or so years; the duration of Cummins' career.

Yes, that yorker was something else.

Thanks Cumdog
The sponsorship was announced in 2018 as a four-year deal. Pat Cummins raised objections yet they still extended it for another year.

Sponsorship arrangements end all the time. I don't recall this level of sooking when Vodafone's deal ended.

Yes and no doubt left would be totally calm & rational if he was out there espousing conservative causes. :$

What are conservative causes?

No if he was a JL style conservative Christian who is mates with Alan Jones, it would make no difference. Just as JL is still seen as a great opening batsman, and passionate servant of Australian cricket.

Dunno and don't really care about politics in general let alone the political views of celebrities and athletes - just pointing out that both sides are fond of accusing the other of what they do themselves because that's the nature of the game and the way of the ideologue. I'm sure it would be different if JL was still playing or coaching the national side and regularly expressing his views in interviews or on social media and demanding the team & CA follow suit.

An interesting stat about Pat Cummins: he made his debut in all major formats of cricket during 2011.

On January 19 he made his domestic Twenty20 debut for New South Wales against Tasmania.
On February 13 he made his domestic one-day debut for New South Wales against Queensland.
On March 3 he made his first class debut for New South Wales against Tasmania.
On October 13 he made his international Twenty20 debut for Australia against South Africa.
On October 19 he made his international one-day debut for Australia against South Africa.
On November 17 he made his Test debut for Australia against South Africa.

Articles floating about how he played with a broken wrist..that isn't impressive it's just selfish.. he needs to pull his head out his own ass
