AFLW 2024 - Round 10 - Chat, game threads, injury lists, team lineups and more.
I'd be careful pulling those jokes if my club had a distinct chance of finishing 9th in consecutive yearsMore likely push to 9th to avoid them.
You may wanna Rethink that.Tigers are mentally vulnerable in Week 1, no matter where/who they play.
Haven't won in Week 1 since they won the flag in '80
A Geelong v Richmond qualifying final would be huge. Much rather Adelaide v GWS and we got GWS in a semi. Most likely, personally I want to see the tigers push to 3rd or 2nd to avoid the crows in Adelaide.
Current match ups you'd get pretty predictable results;A lot can obviously change from now until seasons end however as the ladder stands now the finals games would be the following
QF 1 Adelaide v Richmond in Adelaide
QF 2 Geelong v GWS in geelong*
EF 1 Port v Essendon in Adelaide
EF 2 Sydney v Melbourne in Sydney
A couple of interesting points with this first week of match ups, you'd have 3 clear cut favorites with probably only Port v essendon seen as one that could go either way.
Another interesting point would be if they played cats v Giants in geelong which would be likely you'd have no games in Melbourne in the first week. Don't think that's ever happened before.
Anyway sure it will change a few times before September but I don't think this first week would have many football fans besides the competiting clubs really excited about the match ups.
I think Hawthorn will beat you, but you'll win the next 2.Nahhh...we'll be buggered by then.
Wouldnt worry about us.
Adelaide, which would be in Adelaide. If we wished to avoid a finals matchup that would be it. A genuine 50/50 game right now and many already looking fwd to a massive game in a months time.
We've got Hawthorn at MCG, Geelong at the Cattery, Adelaide in Adelaide to come yet. Some might think thats tuff, but its great for us going into finals even if we drop a couple. Tougher the better.
You dont improve playing shit mobs with an easy draw...especially in August.
Both you and I know that the underdog wins that game. We lost it as soon as Hogan pulled out and we became favourites.Who I think we match up well on: Richmond, Essendon
Games that could go either way: Port, GWS, Geelong
Definite underdogs: Crows
help: swans
Yeah nah we have a pretty good record at Adelaide Oval FWIW- 3 from 4 since it was redeveloped, knocked off the Crows there this year too. We'd batter PortMy prediction of finals setup and who plays who would be
Thursday Night
Sydney v Essendon - SCG - Elimination Final
Friday Night
Richmond v Melbourne - MCG - Elimination Final
Saturday Night
Adelaide v GWS - AO - Qualifying Final
Sunday Arvo
Geelong v Port - SS - Qualifying Final
Friday Night
GWS v Sydney - SPO - SEmi Final
Saturday Night
Port v Melbourne - AO - Semi Final
Friday Night
Geelong v Sydney - MCG - Preliminary Final
Saturday Night
Adelaide v Port - AO - Preliminary Final
Saturday Arvo
Adelaide v Sydney - MCG - Grand Final
Both you and I know that the underdog wins that game. We lost it as soon as Hogan pulled out and we became favourites.
We'll just field our VFL team and watch as Melbourne implode
Yeah nah we have a pretty good record at Adelaide Oval FWIW- 3 from 4 since it was redeveloped, knocked off the Crows there this year too. We'd batter Port
Can't see Essendon losing to Port tbh
Current match ups you'd get pretty predictable results;
Adelaide to win
Geelong to win
Port to win
Sydney to win
Round 2 is where it's getting more interesting.
Richmond v Port - Richmond
Giants v Sydney - Sydney
Round 3
Adelaide v Sydney - Anyone's guess
Geelong v Richmond - Anyone's guess
Round 4
Could be interesting!
Anyone really. It would just mean a slightly bigger share of seats taken by oppo supporters if it's against another Melbourne team. For a team that almost never plays finals, we're pretty good at snapping up ticketsYep a Richmond final in Melb would be pretty big esp if against another Vic side
Tigers are mentally vulnerable in Week 1, no matter where/who they play.

I'd love to see this 1st up
1 Adelaide vs 4 Richmond
2 Geelong vs 3 GWS
5 Port vs 8 Essendon
6 Melbourne vs 7 Sydney
Maybe have the finals play like this
Thursday night
Port vs Essendon
Friday night
Adelaide vs Richmond
Saturday
Geelong vs GWS
Saturday night
Melbourne vs Sydney
There's no true rivalries there but I think at least two of the games are evenly match and would be thrillers.
More likely push to 9th to avoid them.
I'd like to see:
Adelaide (1) vs. Port (4)
Geelong (2) vs. Richmond (3)
Melbourne (5) vs. Essendon (8)
Sydney (6) vs. GWS (7)
Thursday night
Sydney vs. GWS (SCG)
Friday night
Geelong vs. Richmond (MCG)
Saturday
Melbourne vs. Essendon (MCG)
Saturday night
Adelaide vs. Port (AO)
They went even better in 2013 and lost an EF to 9th.I'm confused....if Richmond make the finals, how can they finish 9th..????
Speaking of collingwood, did it take until 10 mins in the last to realise you weren't playing at subi? They went even better in 2013 and lost an EF to 9th.
The concept of Richmond being top 4 still hasn't sunk in...they'd be one of the weakest top 4 sides I can think of since Collingwood in 2002.
I'd like to see:
Adelaide (1) vs. Port (4)
Geelong (2) vs. Richmond (3)
Melbourne (5) vs. Essendon (8)
Sydney (6) vs. GWS (7)
Thursday night
Sydney vs. GWS (SCG)
Friday night
Geelong vs. Richmond (MCG)
Saturday
Melbourne vs. Essendon (MCG)
Saturday night
Adelaide vs. Port (AO)
I just want Sydney to make it into the top 4 so we don't have to play them.
Even though we ran them close in H&A (should have won really) I have little doubt they would crush us in finals.
I'd like to play Richmond. There's a chance they may outchoke us.
Melbourne would be an interesting matchup.
Port I'd give us a chance but we are pretty rubbish in Adelaide.
I'd be happy to get a finals win this year. We aren't good enough to go too deep into finals - the consistency is just not there.
