Wow kinda forgot how sprawling the perk/skill tree is in this. I have no idea what I want to specialise in lol

Kinda want to give a melee brawler build a go but is that even tenable? Surely groups of late game enemies with guns would mow you down no matter how tanky you are?
Absolutely. If you build in that direction, you can pick up cyberdecks that slow time, improve movement speed around combat arenas that let you get into melee quicker, even dodging bullets push comes to shove.

Shows its influences on its sleeves; VTM Bloodlines had similar character progression systems and difference in character builds.

Wow good to hear that. Gonna give it a crack I reckon - I tend to play these games pretty vanilla, guns and cover as you said, may as well mix it up for my 2nd playthrough.

Would you recommend Gorilla Arms or Mantis Blades? Or neither and just stick with a decent kitana?

Funnily enough, haven't done Gorrilla arms, and Mantis Blades is something my katana character has but never uses (got it for missions where you have to enter unarmed, which is kind of silly when one of the other arm upgrades is a rocket launcher that is just a barrel of fun!).

If you like the guns playstyle, movement could be your go as well. There's a parkour system in game, one enhanced by a combination of body perks (sliding whilst shooting or holding a body, less fall damage, dodging aiding stamina recovery) that will complement pretty much any playstyle. Too fast to be hit, and you can go for trick shots and turn each combat into a simultaneous choreographed fight scene.

Katanas are fun as ****, but again if you run into someone whose numbers are higher than yours the build works off dropping people to proc your health regen, and if you can't drop them you're going to struggle in general play (unless you've got a Sandavistan cyberdeck, which just up and slows down time for everyone else, letting you hit them as much as you want).

If you do opt for the non-netrunning cyberdecks, take the knife throw thing from the Cool tree to take out cameras, or shoot them.

On my attempted subsequent plays I've tried running anything other than netrunner and it's simply not as fun or powerful. Nothing feels as powerful as running into an enemy area and wiping out almost everyone, if not everyone, with a few hacks before even entering combat. It's like when I try to replay Skyrim and just default to stealth archer no matter how much I try not to.

I've had an absolute ball playing a katana dude who uses only blades to solve problems; true ninja build, striking from stealth and moving from foe to foe.

But to an extent, you're absolutely right that netrunners have the easiest time of it. I'd never have it changed for the world (netrunners are meant to be OP in the Cyberpunk universe) and I genuinely don't care about gameplay balance. I will say, though, that Cold Blood builds are just as strong if not stronger. Similar to Luck builds in Fallout 4, you just need that initial stack of Cold Blood and you're off.

Just checked what is needed to get this perk and I am a long way off yet with my intelligence only at level 9.

Still early days though and I am investing heavily in a Netrunner build also.

Loving the game but a small personal gripe is not being able to uncheck or not follow a mission when I just want to free roam and explore. The map shits me with a constant Yellow line I cannot remove as you always have to have a mission selected no matter what it is. I can’t seem to uncheck a mission in the journal.

I also love the ability to not be hampered by cash as a crafting skill is easy to do and not patched up yet by CDPR as the last easy money farming mod regarding crafting Target Analysis and selling it to vendors at a massive profit. I hate not being able to afford anything I want especially early on in games!

You can get 100k in nearly 25mins crafting Target Analysis which is cool and if I want something I just buy it providing it is unlocked etc and the current skill tree allows you to use it.

You numpties have got me to go back and play this. I am reminded just how much I loath the Johnny Silverhand bullshit.
Yeah, he's awful. An imposition on the game. It'd have been cool if there were multiple engrams, and you could've gotten different ones for different stories.

Sheesh the more I get into this game the more I am loving it and so glad I waited till I got a next generation console with the XBox X and didn’t try to play it early on with my OneS.

Runs like a dream on this console and the game is immense even though I am so new to it.

How hot is ****ing Judy?? Damn! 👠😍🥰🥰

10/10! 👌

I started it last night and am trying to get my head around the information overload.
Everything feels like it has a short story attached to it.
Loving the city so far.

The design of the city is amazing, intricate spaces hiding around every corner and so much verticality.

I did forget how rough the driving is though, especially coming straight off GTA5 which I was just messing around with again.
Haven't really ventured past ground level yet but keen to. Top of Lizzies bar is as high as I've been lol

Haha yeah the driving is very sketchy. I've been running around on foot for the most part as I can't trust not mowing pedestrians down :tearsofjoy:

Quite a few of the main roads also have a road aligned above them as well, bridges going everywhere - actually took me awhile to realise when I first played it they were proper accessible roads that you could drive on, a whole other level of shops and people. Very cool, really makes the city seem futuristic.

Is this game in its final state now? Or are there more updates/upgrades/dlcs planned for it?
IIRC, there were originally three DLC's planned, but due to the negative press they shelved two of them.

The latest patch contained a whole heap of fixes to unfinished quests, additional NPC dialogue and lines; the sort of thing that perhaps should've been there when the game was released, but is good that they're there now. It also - according to the above - contained subtitles for content that isn't in the main game.
