Surely Teasdale would have to be the best recruit for D1 this year? Why does the whole team rest on his shoulders. It was a very good side last year and the younger guys will have improved. Can not see any players leaving for other clubs. IMO, anything less than promotion will have been a disappointing year for OM

I thought John Rombotis was gonna be the recruit of the year??

very good authority?
i think you should re-check your source.....wanna back up your statement with 11 names? or happy just to talk crap?

As an OM man would you prefer I do that?
Try Doggy Cafarella (the Reserves coach), who is also club president at the cricket club I was involved with in season 07/08. Didn't ask for names. Can name a few, but would rather not give a leg up on a mate's club prior to Rd.1. Feel free to name them yourself.

think you hampton boys should stick to ur c thread if ull post rubbish like that.

cant help but notice mick that on the c thread you said an "understrength OM towelled up Mazenod by 6-8goals"
maybe the so called 11 replacements are quality players.....

you may need to check your sources there Mick. There's every chance he hasn't learnt the names of the blokes he's gotta coach this year, let alone know who isn't playing this year that may have last year...

Was stating that I personally could name a few.

I can only go on what I've been told and your mate 'Boris' was happy to confirm something quite similar. Please direct all queries to the injury prone A.Palmer with the dodgy hammy who wears the number 19 jumper down at OM's (aka Boris the Blade). When I posted the 45 number of players, he's now retracting to about 15-20. However, in his words you're down 11 from last year's prelim.

As for the Mazenod post, he told me the scores were even at the half and your boys ran away with the win. Again, he stated an understrength side, but was quite confident of what has been achieved down there in the pre-season. If any of this information is incorrect, he's your man.

If you're happy to pump your own tyres and put the early heat on your own club then so be it.

other than quoting you, i cant see anywhere where i have pumped us up.....
hopefully some of the '11' players arent in the starting line up against aquinas coz theres competition for spots which is a healthy problem to have....

Here are my tips for the opening round. It's very much a raffle, and i hope the Reds prove me wrong.

Old Mentonians vs Aquinas - OMs. Look to be the outright favourite from all reports and first up at home will be very tough to beat.

North Old Boys vs Fitzroy Reds - NOBs. Based on the Reds' pre-season results (ordinary), and from the pasting they got from NOBs last year, I'll have to go for the team in purple in the battle of the relegated teams.

Old Geelong vs South Melbourne - OGs. Also reported to be very good, and South Melbourne may find the step up in class a bit tougher than expected.

Yarra Valley vs Prahran - Prahran. Whispers suggest they have recruited well and could be a smokey this season.

Peninsula vs Bulleen-Templestowe - Peninsula. No confirmation of recruits, but if John Rombotis and the other guy (whose name escapes me) plays, then they must be some chace, especially at home.

Good luck to all teams for the season ahead.

I personally think that Panthers will be ok this year. But not outstanding, it will be interesting to see how many turn up to play in the reserves. Only had 9 - 12 play against Mazanod, had U/19's playing 6 quarters. Its just normal for a ammo's club, lots of player turn over.

If the panthers dont play final's it will be disapointing.

Go panthers.

Come on Brunswick! Your attempts to talk down the Reds are nearly as bad as mine were to talk them up! Nobs got thumped in a praccy against Werribee!
Agree with three of your tips.

Reds will smash nobs and Yarra too strong for Prahran, although it will be the closest game of the round.

Panther man, you could very well be the new Jascave. You say the panthers will be ok, but not outstanding. Then say how much they battled to put numbers on the park in a praccy match, indicating you probably don't think they'll be that good. Then say if they don't play finals it will be disappointing. You're not giving us much.

....then you say the ammo's has a high turnover of players.

Err...log onto the EFL website (only used as an example) and look at the volume of Transfers/Registrations. Unbelievable. 1 club has over 60 new faces this year! That's a high turnover of players, champ.

Round 1 is always a toughie:

Nobs vs Reds - I'll take the Reds purely because i play for them and think the coaches have given us a good grounding to improve on 2007

Old Mentone vs Aquinas - Agree with Brunswick that Mentone appear to be favourites with the Big Footy faithful so i will go with them.

Old Geelong vs South Melbourne - Flip of a coin, heads says South, Tails says Geelong........ it is tails. Should be close though

Yarra Valley vs Prahran - I'll take Yarra because it's at their ground

Peninsula vs Bulleen - Who would know, really. There's been a bit of yap from, and about Bulleen, so I might take them.

Go Reds

read this again Mappa, and re-post.

MIGHT have to quote you on this on sunday

One thing is for sure - Reds won't smash NOBs.
We will have to improve significantly on pre-season efforts to get the points.

No one connected with the club is suggesting otherwise.

C'mon Frase,

put your neck on the line and tell the truth. You are expecting a comfortable 1st up win !!

Reds in a canter.

The Roy

I remain confident Teasdale is the better pickup. Sure we all like to have stars in our team but at what cost? This guy has had more clubs than I have had hot dinners.

Having said that, would have made a great story if he gone to play with Fitzroy again.

How the fck would you know what I think?

Truth is:

1. we're missing lots of players and it will be damn tough to win.
2. You have spent 2 1/2 years pretending to be a Redder and we're all sick of your cr@p.

Piss off d!ckhead.

PS - thanks Duncan, you rock!!

Come on Frase, it's for the Red Nob Cup, isn't it? If that doesn't lend enough gravitas to the situation, I don't know what will.

Scribe is correct, Fitzroy are missing key players and it will be exceptionally tough. Will watch with interest how Old Mentonians and South Melbourne go this week.

What sheep stations are we playing for this week? Ah that's right, Collingwood Childrens Farm this week. The property value alone is megabucks...
