So what is the variation in Bentleigh odds if as rumoured Kellaway pulls the pin?

oops pow SUPRISE! OHHHHHH

...as Hater would say.

Hey Rooster, now you're back, any chance of some action on D2 B&F? Or is that a bit outside your area of expertise? I'd like to lay a lazy ten at some good odds early in the piece... ;)

Sorry mate, don't know too much about D2 the B&F. It would be tough to pick though, anyone can turn up no one has ever heard of in VAFA circles.

Probably come out to about $7.00 and the other second line teams come in.

Unlike last year, the two demoted teams only had 3-4 (I think) wins between them compared to 12 wins between Bentleigh / St John's in D2 07 so despite coming down a grade, they don't have form on the board in my opinion. Historically though, they perform well at this level, which is enough to keep them safe for me.

St. Johns only won about 8 last year after winning 6 in D2 so the difference in standard isn't that big, just like the drop to the top 4-5 D4 sides isn't that big.

It's a really open comp this year.

Bit rough on SFX. I know someone has to be spoon favourites and as the second promoted team they're prime candidates but $3 with $8 the next nearest seems a bit harsh!
They knocked over the favoured sides in the finals until meeting WB in the GF. Kew, Albert Park, MtLilydale were all decent sides and as Eltham and UHS showed last year the jump from D4 to D3 is not that overwhelming.

agree with you red gum. i saw st francis xavier in the finals at oakleigh last year & they played excellent football across all lines.

but i guess seeing theyre the newly promoted team from d4, they have no form against d3 sides so hence wooden spoon favourites!!

but rest assured they will give a good account of themselves in most games... apart from when they venture to arthur street & leave with their pants pulled down!! :p

i wouldn't underestimate the mighty jocs... i play 18'2 with them but the seniors have just got a new coach and there old captain is back along with some talent that left and came back and a few new boys coming out of the 18's from last year...
plus our seniors knocked off a few of the big boys last year but just couldn't string lots of good footy together...
i'd have money on them making the 4 for sure and the twos to go close to winning the flag

Who is the new coach dyl tigerman??

I heard your seniors were after Paul Groves from St Bedes last year but he opted to play in A Section (smart move as it turned out for him - no offence to you guys.) He would have been almost unstoppable in D3 last year.

Added to which no-one likes travelling to their home ground to play either. They'll win more than they lose thats for sure.

3-4 wins is true, I don't remember the actual numbers but there were very few wins. It was a disappointing season for both clubs. Despite this, I do remember that we at Bentleigh had a lot of close games....(i.e within 2 goals)...that really could have gone either way.
So while we didn't get the 4 points for those games, and we did get the occasional flogging by the top sides, we didn't believe that we deserved relegation. But what's happened has happened, we didn't win those close games, and now we're in D3 and Therry Penola have remained in D2, but I wouldn't think that our 'form' will continue this year.
Let's wait and see.

No big head here DUDE....

But they did merge with us and we wont be back.... (hope to christ anyway!!!)

Just out of curiosity, what would you say the ratio of players are at SMS now, eg, 30% St Marys 70% Saleasan?

And also, are u guys gonna be bringing an exersise bike to away games this year?

Nah its probably more 50/50 to be honest. The St Mary's boys had alot more youth that are pushing through now.

Not sure about the exersise bike though, i wouldnt have thought so...
