Good battle with the JOC's today played in good spirits. They ran away with it in the third with a 4 goal lead and we were lucky enough to peg them back in the last and get over the line by 8 points. Could've went either way.

Look forward to a good rivalry with em.

Heatherton defeated Bentleigh by about 3 goals. Good hitout for late March and will have both sides prepared for the upcoming season. Thanks to the Bentleigh for helping us out with the trainers. Good luck for the year.

2s won by 9 goals, who look like a completely different team to last year, well drilled and crisp with the disposals. Some great new players were exciting to watch, chitty, platts and the return of Squidward all impressed as well as slumdog who got some valuable game time. Donatello was his usual brilliant self. i had a lazy 20 on Will Minson to kick the first goal whose odds were 80-1!! :p

The 1s looked great, poor goal kicking earlier on in the piece, turned out to hurt though. Great to see the likes of Goliath Hendry, and the mortician all having a influence. Milo was his usual attacking self and the Paul the Magnificent continues his good form.

We travel to the far reaches of Etham next week before the break.

Loving the nicknames Nikes, although a couple are hard to work out, but good stuff.
As you said the 2s looked good (again). The 1s were solid until 3/4 time and let it slip which was disappointing.
The word is there are a number of players ready to come in this week who again missed the weekend's game, whether it's through the 1s or the 2s, so should be strong lineups as we look for the right mix for round 1.
I am one suiting up for my first game of the year as long as we get through training this week.. It'll be good to be out there holding the Sherrin instead of the water bottles!!

How did other D3 clubs handle the heat on Saturday??

Just a quick one fellas...... Was wondering where i could source a quality leather training ball and screw-in studded football boots with ankle support (Glen Iris area)? I have a sneaky feeling the grounds will be quite boggy come April....

it was great to have my first run around for season 2009 against heatherton last saturday... i even managed to kick 2 goals!! a good win & i agree that we were better skilled than ive EVER seen!! or course, early days yet so we'll see how we go come round 1 in 18 days.

the 1s just ran out of gas - its as simple as that. its a worry for coach munro though...

the eltham games will be a good test against one of our own. theyve been finals participants (both grades) the last 3 years & have been unlucky not to have won more premierships. it will definitely be a solid workout.

SMS's had a good hitout against Sth Belgrave at their ground (Its even smaller than Ferndale!!!)

1's still have a few missing but came out of the blocks firing! Stopped a bit in the second half, ended up winning by 2-3 goals. 2's went well, won by 10 goals +. Under 18's had their first game for the club and went down by about 3 goals, but some very good signs there and it was great for the club to see them run around!!!

This week off too Sydenham Hillside on Saturday, Seniors, reserves & U18's!! Looking forward to the last hitout before the real stuff starts!!

It must be the go with lower grade EFL clubs. I was talking to a player from Forest Hill & he said they ground was no good as it's a postage stamp as well.

Maybe the Ammo clubs don't how good they've got it playing at Ferndale.

Me personally, with my physique, quite like thew smaller grounds anyway!

Im with you Sniper, I love the size of our ground!!! Allthough, i dont really make my way out of the 50m arc, no matter what ground we are playing at!!!

Your right though Forrest Hill is small!! But not as small as nunawading....tiny!!!

went down to watch bentleigh on the weekend, they definately looked a lot sharper than last, year, i personally think they'll be the team to beat. HOWEVER - they are still quite soft and were shown up on numerous occassions, especially in the last quarter, which some of the tougher sides like st johns, SFX and SMS might catch them out, there smaller bodies definately tired with the physical pressure! However, there improvement from last season is quite significant and they will be the one to watch!

WTF. Ferndale is the equivalant to a renters backyard with the blinds drawn. Throw in the 1950`s style clubrooms and you have the complete package. I have limited knowledge of the grounds but was one of the deciding factors of not wanting to play for SMS...... i know Hawthorns ground is pretty terrible but can anyone name another D3 club with a worse ground.

The ground is small but the council has plans to increase the size, and the suface at the moment is lush!!!. As far as the clubrooms go, wouldn't say they where that bad, allthough we have renovations starting end of this season thanks to a $600,000+ grant. The new plans look fantastic!!!

Anyway, hopefully you have found the perfect club at powerhouse now Lamp Flaps and they can suit all of you needs as a footballer. We look forward to meeting up with you this season... whoever you are!!

Rathmines (hawks ground) is in mint condition at the moment.....Booroondara council have spent big on all their grounds over the summer....

Lamp flaps how do u know what the rooms look like? we have only just taken over them from the cricket club and got full access and hence can use the rooms now?

Interesting that you know what they look like already?

I knew that Ferndale wouldn't be suitable for superstars like yourself, it's lucky you didn't play against Parkdale, Murrumbeena, Balwyn's as even their change rooms would be below par for you.

I'll tell you what, when Powerhouse play at Bentleigh, be sure to give the club a ring (ph: 040 3825 633, people with letters on the phone pad will be able to work this one out) on your pending arrival, just so we can roll the red carpet out for your, re paint the changerooms, even put fresh towels in the showers for you or any other request they makes your day at Bentleigh all that more enjoyable for a superstar like yourself.

got to say arthur street is looking an absolute treat at the moment - the $400 000+ was dollars well spent. beautiful cover of grass all over & no dirt patches anywhere. to go with that, superb drainage which allows for decent football to be played even when its wet. havent seen the rooms yet as the cricket club still has control but by all accounts the renovations were successful. were having a run around thursday so looking forward to the lush surface!!

we'll welcome all clubs in d3 this season in our own, imitable style...

Bucks01,

Make up your mind!

Are they the team to WATCH or the team to BEAT?

Please decide...

You claim they are the team to beat, yet you then go about saying they are soft and that showed up in the last quarter??? Then you talk about smaller bodies and physical pressure not up to scratch BUT they are the team to BEAT and WATCH!?!?!?!

Are you for real?

Stewie,

Usually I love your work...but the barstardisation of the English language needs to stop.

I hate being an English teacher here but....

You should hear him pronounce it.

Dee.. Oh dee. This really is disappointing. look at the context and try both meanings. Which one makes sense? Its not gonna be "we will welcome you like every one else."

You sure you play for Power House??? Are you talking about Changerooms or social rooms??? Because if you are talking about change rooms, then if SMS are 1950's style rooms, then PH's rooms are pre 1900's. You are lucky to get 5 blokes in let alone 22 blokes.......Just chisel out a hole in the wall and call them change rooms.

Taskmaster,

If I recall correctly (and Vegemite...feel free to chip in here) but weren't Power Houses rooms - and all the Albert Park clubs too - newly built when the Grand Prix came to town about 10 years ago?

firstly, thanks for the compliment.

secondly, **laugh** just checked with wiktionary dee three & thats the word i was after... we are "capable of being imitated or copied" .

i hope i havent insulted your intellect too much, brother!! ;)
