Gotta be Hawthorn for me, this time. Bentleigh to be runners up. Or third time lucky? Power House and West Brunswick to make up the dancing partners in September. As for the rest... Expect the Jocs to be in the running, Monash Gryphons and St Sallys also to be up there. (Unless the combine is all mouth and no trousers!) Elsternwick in the mid field (Perrenial D3 stock). Relegation chance?............ UHS-VU ( sorry puff -puff) and SFX. I'm on the side, winding them up. Bigger bite than bark.

Dizwah,

please refrain from PM me. I left the club because i was abused by some little shits waiting for there first shave. If your pre-pubesent side has sucess this year i will consider lodging the first ABC side in the VAFA. Big numbers at training but all little kids pretending there all that. Good luck and i hope the formula cost does not blow out.

Handy hint; Place two spoons of bi-carb soda in a small cup in the fridge. This helps to hide all those nasty smells! I have done it the last 2 years and aunty reckons my fridge smells like the wild flowers in spring bloom.

D3 Grand Finals

2004 Oakleigh (4.23) Rupertswood (5.8)

In 2008, Oakleigh were 1 umpiring decision and 30 seconds away from being a B grade team.

That is a fantastic effort as i am sure most teams in this years comp would struggle big time against D1 teams even.

I don't know the history of the other sides in this comp, but whats the highest grade that the current D3 teams have been in?

Rupertswood went straight from D4 in 2002, their first year in the VAFA, to C Grade in 07, only failing to gain promotion 1 year when they were beaten by 2 points in a prelim final at Vic Park.

In 07, they finished on top (I think, possibly 2nd) in C grade but then lost both finals by less than a goal and failed to make B grade.

Up until last year I think they'd only lost a handful of games at home in the VAFA.

When Oakleigh won the premiership in D3, they would have struggled against a D1 side, no doubt they've made big improvements since then and thoroughly deserve to be where they are.

Here is a link which may help you Lamb Flaps, as bullying & abuse of any kind is a very serious issue.

Lamb Flaps my number is 0410 130 255. If you have any concerns with SMS feel free to give me a call. However I think it is reasonable to assume that you at no stage have been anywhere near a training session and have done what so many other weak minded people like to do on big footy by muck racking whilst enjoying the anominity of an alias.

I can assure you there is no ego down at SMS and that evey new player has been welcome down with great enthusiasm. It is a shame that you are using such a cowardly manner as a forum for the gripe you have against the football club. Will be interesting to see if you have the intestinal fortitude to ring me and discuss the matter

So you reckon you left because you where abused...... find that really hard to believe..please explain the level of abuse you think you recieved???

You have one thing right though, we do have a very young list, but I would hardly think that would be a negative...

Bails, from all reports (not Bigfooty) numbers have been great for you guys thus far, so thats a positive - as for quality, only time will tell.
What I don't understand is why you guys take such offence at every little bit of criticism that comes your way. Surely, you have better things to do than bark at shadows every time they appear....
Imagine if you were coach of the Hawks, sh*t, you'd be on here 24/7....
You can't run to mummy everytime the big boys are mean to you in the play ground....

Justafan,

there is only one guy on here from SMS that bites at the bait thrown out on here (especially the surf rod you seem to own), obviously that would be myself!! I do get sucked in quite easy..... to say the least!

I am passionate about my football club though and I hate it when i get on here and see some of the things written, even if its just bigfooty! It a problem I need to curtail....

Griff, I commend you on your enthusiasm for your club but justafan has a point.
As senior coach of the Hawks, we have a massive task to earning respect not only externally but internally as well. The perception of our club is so far from the reality it is frightening but unfortunately this the the world we live in at the Hawks . We have realised that only by focusing on the things WE can control are going to change the perceptions of our club. I feel biting at every negative comment about us only enforces the perception and reputation.
If I did, I would have to devout about 6 hrs a day to Bigfooty.
Whether the Lamp Chops (apologies if this is incorrect) incident happened or not, if this was said about us we would deal with it internally. We need to ensure we are dotting our "i's" and crossing our "t's" so we minimise these types of things.
The only way the Hawks are going to change the perception is way we conduct oursleves on and off the ground. The boys are committed to this change and this give me great excitement for the year ahead.

I believe Elsternwick have won an A grade flag, all be it a while ago.

Agree with you 100% Mark.. and as i was trying to get accross in my last post, justafan does have a point...

Unfortunatley we have no idea who Lamb chops is and it would have been nice if he had a problem to approach the coaching staff rather than in this forum...

i dip my hat to oakleigh - i was at the preliminary final last year & hampton rovers JUST did enough to keep them out but if the game had gone for another 3 minutes, no doubt it wouldve been an ormond v oakleigh grand final. theyve swept all before them since 2004.

weve been in the victorian amateur football association since 2000, the highest weve been is d2 & we were definitely found out last year whereas in previous years weve been able to survive.

in the past few years the standard of football i believe has significantly increased & its tougher to stay in the division youre in because of the fierce competition opposition teams deliver.

every team strives for victory...

There's a great website called Full Points Footy that lists the history of every club going round in this country. The pages are a very informative read.

SFX has only been existence for 2 years. To new to really have a history on the club.

There were 55 listed players who did not play yesterday for various reasons that have trained more than twice this pre-season. Some sort of numbers!!
So DryBones, if you only played the very minimum of 44 players on the weekend (as far as i knew, praccie matches had a few extras on the bench) on a quick calculation you would claim that Bentleigh have 99 players over two teams this year. Not including blokes coming back a week before the season, or blokes who havnt trained more than twice?

Would that mean a full list of players down there this year would be approx 120-150? Ill post some more interesting statistics..

Frank W Dux

From 1975 to 1980 Frank W. Dux fought 329 matches. He retired undefeated as the World Heavy Weight Full Contact Kumite Champion.
Mr. Dux still holds four world records:
Fastest Knockout - 3.2 seconds
Fastest Punch with a Knockout - .42 seconds
Fastest Kick with a Knockout - 72 mph
Most Consecutive Knockouts in a Single Tournament - 56

(Go watch Bloodsport with Van Damm if you dont know who this is)

even though he cant even varify if there was even a tournament, i find these stats more believable than Bentleigh having 120-150players.
