not likeley. i think they are in negotiations with the vafa to have their own exclusive level. They will stay in D3 perpetually competeing and drawing as all three are unbeatable, the rest of us will be competing in a new level called "D4.5" playing footy with anvils cos its all we deserve.

I have heard that SMS will be merging with Nth Melbourne. They will only retain 10% of the Nth Melbourne list as they already have enough super stars. The other 90% of roos players will make up the Bentleigh and Hawthorn FC's, Club 18 squads. They just cant find spots for these players, so off to clubbies boys!!!!

D4.5 sounds like an option for the rest of us, that are merely making up numbers in D3.:)

Having a look on the VAFA website and couldnt remember if someone from St Marys posted it: they have a praccie match against Olinda/Ferny Creek and another v sydenham Hillside. nice scenic trip for you fellas.

AND Bent to play Forrest Hill now??

Not to mention Neerim South.... We are staying at Warragul for this one. Should be a good team "bonding" session after the game!!

This was not supposed to be announced untill next week! The reatined 10% will start the year in the Clubbies and try and work their way into the reserves, then seniors. Both clubs are happy with the outcome.

With the season only a few weeks away, is there anyone online that is prepared to post something (anything) related to D3 footy.

Let's see if anyone is prepared to comment on this one...

What was the best football your team played last season?

Best quarter or best game?

Over to you guys.

West Brunswick gave us a few lessons last year. If they've held their list they'll do very well in D3.

Is Irving still at WB or did he get on the list at Port Melbourne? very good footballer will be a key for WB

D4 B & F, and a nice guy as well. Hope he sticks with them. In saying that, they have a pretty solid list without him. Some big forwards and quality midfielders.

Could it be that leagues need to start considering artificial g.r.a.s.s, in light of the poor water over summer ?!? i hear theres a council very much interested in re-turfing a dead ground..

I'd like to see it done for soccer grounds before footy/cricket fields. At least as test case ;)

Very much like Arena Football in America.

I believe the artificial grass idea was proposed in the Leader newspaper or the herald sun.

"Three artificial grass soccer pitches were installed at the Football Federation Victoria (FFV) HQ at the
Darebin International Sports Centre in 2005. Installation, flood lighting and fencing is $430 000 per
pitch. For full contact sport, an additional elastic layer for a pitch costs $240 000. Melbourne Victory has"
used the pitches for training and pre-season friendly matches.

Hmmm.

The problem I have is for turf cricket... would you have a grass center square?

If there is anyone looking for a practice match on 4 April PM me. Skye Football Club and we have the ground available. Seniors, Reserves, Under 18s

i wonder how much "carpet burn" or turf burn injuries would come out of having an arteficial pitch..

Having played (soccer) on those ones in Darebin at the FFV I can confirm that the carpet burn from sliding on this surface is terrible. Would definitely not reckon it would work for footy.

Are you a tough VAFA or real footballer or a woman? Theres alot more to worry about than Grass burns, Carpet Burns - If the stuff lets clubs/leagues play football - then its not a bad idea.
