so all these clubs can be expected to play in snow & foggy conditions possibly!

cold hands & fingers a part of this too - a great advertisement for the wearing of gloves to prevent injuries - something the amateur hierachy fail to acknowledge. they have it in their system that gloves arent needed within the divisions.

they need to move out of the stone age i believe & listen to reason. anyone else agree?

Call me old school, but I see gloves as an inability to use the tools god gave us! Don't see they are necessary at all. (Can someone please ask the guru's at big footy to put a spell check on the thing..ha ha)

It's not cheating, just pointless I guess.

Perhaps I am just a Dinosaur!

You guys are surely pulling our leg. 90% of games are played in great conditions. This year I can remember only 1 round where it was freezing cold and raining. The only players who wear gloves are soft cks who don't want to get there fingers cold!!

How many players do you guys know of who have lost fingers to frostbite playing footy.

You guys need a hard case of harden the fck up!!!

How about we play all finals at the telstra dome or better still have commercial heaters around the ground or maybe we could implement a cold policy (similar to cricket's heat policy) whereby the game cannot be played under 16 degrees.

FOOTBALL is a WINTER SPORT!!!!!

I use play footy up bush, (Bright) and it used to snow up there....no one got frost bite or any other disorder.....

If it's such an issue - drop some "Stones" into you water bottle.....the old blokes will know what I am talking about!!

Does anyone else wonder why Stfewie hangs out in the D4 thread? We all know he's done pretty well online in the past, yet I don't see the connection anymore.

I see posts on D4, D3, D2 from Stewie40. Must have a lot of relatives playing/old school mates/in the area and just drops by/keen interest in grass roots footy and all that sort of stuff.

Not just old people the same 'type' of people who drink stones also wear gloves and have a special weekend in sydney dedicated to their struggle with people who like the nuclear family type of life and do normal stuff

Geez, I hope our shooters are not that far off the mark in 'Smogjein'.
With you Lakey. Stones was always in the trainers kit bag in the old days. Even saw one bottle go from the Hawthorn huddle over to the Footscray huddle one 3/4 time out Western Oval back in the 60s.
Don't think anyone ever called Ted less than hard.

Can't come at the gloves though. Like helmuts for batting. Tried them but just didn't feel right.

If you had ever played out where the weather got really hard you'd know Stones is a good option. Stones Mac if you really wanted to trade some coordination in for some warmth.

You bloody blokes today are whinging about it being 10degrees with some drizzle. That's what we used to call perfect footy weather. Try snow, or worse that sleet with the sharp icy bite in it. Try taking a mark and dislocating a finger... only its so num you can't barely feel it. Try playing in fog thick enough you cant see the ball coming til its arms length in front of your face.
Most of all just harden up. We used to cop sh1t if we got a rub-down before trotting out (it wasn't a girly offerin it though it was a bloke of about 90 with fingers like tree roots.)

Helmets, gloves, fancy tights... all of them are useless crutches for a generation raised by women.
Rant concludes!

South Morang have put in for D4 next year will not play in Div 3 in NFL they will win flag by 20 goals if they get in

You are kidding, South Morang with their current side would definitely finish top 5 but to say they would win by 20 goals is a bit silly!!!

Probably best to watch the standard of footy before commenting. Good NFL div 2 (macleod, thomastown, whittlesea) would be about low d1 to middle d2 standard.

West Heidelberg still wouldn't win a game in d4!!

That's a great rumour Jimmy Jab. (Middle name isn't Pooh I hope)

They would certainly be competitive, and the improvement shown by the snakes with 3 ex NFL (Diamond Creek) guys is enough to suggest you may be right.

However, Sth Morang have never been a NFL / DVFL power anyhow, and I am sure a heap of players would drop off and play at other NFL / local clubs. It is important to remembet that these guys are not used to travel, no player payments, etc etc..........

Very interesting
