How is pre-season going for clubs? Anyone got an actual ground they are training on? Any news on recent recruits or departures from clubs?

rc just finished up its pre christmas preseason sessions. things are looking positive. the new coaches are doing e great job and we have a camp planned for end of feb. we hven't had a preseason camp in my time so i'm looking forward to it.
 
G'DAY fellow D4'ers....
So far for the mountain men of lilydale, we have had 4 nights of pre-season training with numbers floating around the 40 with two more nights to go. There is 7 new faces already and we have only the one retiree.
We have a training camp in Feb which should be 'FUN'. We also have two practice matches set up for March against Chirnside Park then Yarra Glen.

The general feeling around the place is a very positive one, with officials and players determined to go forward after two failed finals campaigns in two years.
So look the F#$@ out D4!!!:D

Finals campaigns, is that what you call them SNEAKO? Two 15 plus goal smashings, "witches hats" I'd say.

Has anyone notcied that the 2's game between Albert Park & Richmond starts at 5pm on a Friday night? Won't that make it tough for guys who whork to get there?

with 4 months notice id suggest a few hours wont be a problem. plus we get the saturday off :)
 
anyone from eley park on here? i live across the road from the home ground and thinking of playing for you guys next year.

Eley Park have done themselves a favour appointing Ken Schwab as their Senior Coach for 2009.
Ken has spent the past few years as an assistant coach at Old Camberwell in C and B grade and will bring a new perspective to the club.He has an amazing knowledge base and a solid work ethic.
Those at OC wish 'Schwabby' all the best with this new venture and remind him that he is always more than welcome to drop in at Gordon Barnard.

Is there anyone from Swinburne or Latrobe reading these posts? Where does Swinburne play? And how is Latrobes resurfacing coming along. It will be fun to play out there on that massive ground.

Swinburne play at St James Park in Hawthorn. It's on Burwood road.
There rooms are probably the worst in the ammo's. Change rooms are shocking but their social room is a gem. The social room consists of a downstairs garage that opens up in to a social room.

Worse than South Mornington's rooms?
 
I'm tipping worse than South Morningtons....showers / toilets were built in the depression and haven't be updated since and smell of 14 year old urine.

Downstairs social 'room' certainly has a lot of character........

decent cricket ground. i've played there against the hwks a few times.

I remember playing there when it was our old ground. Social rooms where across the road at the pub (Now apartments I think)

Worse position is full back.....getting the ball off te tram lines after a goal or point was always a bit dicey....a good reason for an additional bench player. God I didn't think we'd ever have to play on that shit hole again!

Done my catch up reading now - big changes over the off season for a few clubs it seems.

Good decision with Syndal's change to Chadstone.
Shame about their other major decision.

Looking fwd to getting back into it once we start back in '09.
 
To all D4 users I hope you have a great Xmas and I wish you all good health and success in 2009.

I will not be coaching in VAFA in 2009, have been appointed Ressies coach and senior assistant coach with Donvale who play Division 2 Eastern Football League. Will certainly be regular visit to this site and look forward to a return to VAFA hopefully in the future.

All the best for Christmas to you too mate. congrats on the appointment with Donvale - my mates that used to play there rate it as a very good club.
