bloke named todd lawrie running around for point cook this season....will tear d4 apart. midfielder/small forward

Right... 6 weeks till Round 1.... The matchups:

Monash @ North Brunswick - Little news coming from either side since xmas. Monash had all the news early with their big appointment.

Manningham @ South Mornington - Manningham strengthening according the the big footy banter, and the clearances would suggest they've gained ground. Nothing from SM, hopefully no more defections to the SFL.

Mt Lilydale @ Chadstone - MTL have put in plenty of clearences with little result, chadstone appear to be riding a wave of players from the south.

Richmond Central @ Point Cook - Point Cook the dark horse to win the flag?

Swinburne Uni @ Eley Park - Swinburne lost Yaman, who won them a handful of games on his own last season... can he be replaced? No news from Eley Park except for TBones ominous warning :(

Box Hill North (Bye - How weird is that!) - Not much coming out of Elgar Park... but a handful of inclusions have them heading in the right direction.

Was just reading the Kinsella thread and it got me thinking that D4 doesn't have any dirty teams or dirty players anymore (I can't think of any).

I wonder how Point Cook are going to handle the VAFA style of play considering they have plenty of players from 'tougher' leagues?

You're probably right. Can't think of anyone to put in those categories.

I think you will find we have no Dirty Player policy at P.C. You will find yourself out the door before you even play a game. We are after a good reputation as a side who will play hard and fair then stick around and have a couple beers afterwards with the opposition. Thats what i will be strong on.
I think we all like a free flowing game without having to worry about some thug trying to hit you !! So its good to hear their gone.

I`m sure the VAFA Umpires will be the hardest to adjust too !

I believe you`ll find the players Tough  But fair at P.C :)

BigWaz is there many players/supporters who have been around the Club from back in the late 80`s ??

Practice match required Saturday March 20.

Due to our opposition having ground availability issues our practice match has been cancelled so the Laverton Magpies are looking for a practice match on Saturday March 20th for seniors and reserves. We don't have access to our oval on this date (cricket finals) so it'll have to be at your's if your lucky enough to have one or at a neutral venue.

Please call Justin Moran on 0411 798 934 if interested.

Hey guys, i was wondering what the standard of D4 is compared to other leagues in the area?

Well as for the two leagues in my general area....
The top 2-3 clubs in D4 vafa would play finals in D4 EFL and be competitive in D3, Dominate YVMDFL Divi 2 and most likely play finals in Divi 1.

Way of the mark MNIs.....Most YVMDFL Divi 2 sides would beat VAFA D4 and even the best D4 sides wouldn't be good enough to play finals in D4 EFL

Skye Football Club Div 2 Southern Football League are seeking a practice match on March 27th. We will have a ground available. PM me if anyone is interested.

Mt.Lilydale played practice matches against both D4 EFL and D2 YVMDFL last season. We smashed Yarra Glen(D2 YVMDFL) by 25+ goals and lost to Chirnside Park (D4 EFL) by 7 goals.
So I'd have to say that 'My Name Is' is pretty spot on considering Chirnside won the D4 G.F and that Olinda Creek who won the D2 G.F only beat Yarra Glen by 15 goals.
Does this make sense? Gee I'm confusing myself now!

I played Divvy 2 YVMDFL last year and am playing D4 this year, from what I've seen at training with a D4 club they would win on fitness/speed but 2nd divvy YVMDFL boys would win on size and strength.

Go South Mornington Tigers

ok - i'll sort this out for you all. the best club 18 sides would dominate D4. D4 is a crap grade. as is club 18. obviously. practice match results count for so little. if you are under the impression that D4 (sorry division 4) is a good standard then think again. there are good footballers yes, but its the next dozen or so in the firsts at most D4 clubs are average footballers (at best). add to this the softness of amateur football (D4 being the softest, believe me i know) it all equates to a low and sometimes embarrassing standard (did anyone else see the finals last year). but those practice match results you say - yeah yeah yeah - i've played in EFL and YMDFVL and i promise Division 4 amateurs gets no where near it. so accept the fact you play in the worst suburban division in Melbourne town. and try to dominate it. that should not be a big ask.

You crack me up....It seems you needed to get that of your chest. Feel better now? Most of what you say is true 'but' I also have played EFL and YVMDFL footy and still believe my earlier post, without a doubt! Maybe next time you strap on the boots or even when your cutting up the oranges ready to hand out to the football players or running out the water for they boys after a goal, just take a minute to notice anyone but yourself out on the paddock and try another assessment.;)

Is the Aaron Marsh cleared to Point Cook the former Altona and Torquay or Ocean Grove full forward. He'll kick 100 in D4 if its the same guy. Would be about 33 or so now but will still dominate.
