Interesting... I didn't think Allard Park would be the biggest in D4. I would have thought Lilydale.

Has the Allard ground been resurfaced with the new club rooms?

'Resurfaced' would probably give the council too much credit. It is an improved surface though, no doubts a lot more lush.

Big day for North Brunswick tomorrow, back at Allard Park for the first time since Round 18, 2008.

Good work Ozza - an 'improved' surface is gold at Allard Park.

Not trying to ignite old wounds, but has Briffa been back at all this year? Threw his fair share on the field, but always a good bloke for a chat & a laugh off it.

Can anyone answer the following? As I'm sure everyone is aware all VAFA grounds have accurate 45m lines and 45m centre squares, and Whitehorse Reserve only being 132m long, will the 45m arcs actually intersect the centre square this season like the SCG with the 50m lines?

If so, I am looking forward to seeing a few kicked from the centre square.

Unfortunately Briff hasn't been back down to the club yet, IFF. You're right that Briff was always good for a laugh and a chat. He was always a good clubman - and hopefully he will come down to the club again someday.

The measuremets given are pre 2000 when the goals ran true East-West.

The ground was re-surfaced in 2001 and the goals moved app. 30mtrs clockwise to accomodate the units built at the Eastern nd of the ground which resulted in a lopsided ground (a deep and shallow packet at either end of the ground) and the ground length shortening to app. 145mtrs and about a width of 100 - 110mtrs.

The council ensured a soft ground for the weekend by pumping 6yrs worth of water into the ground over the last 3 weeks ensuring some grass growth. Ground is abou 3 to 4 weeks away from being in immaculate condition.

Big finals like crowd out at Point Cook on Sat.

PC got off to a fast start kicking the first 4 goals... then RC kicked the next 8. The lead changed a few times in the 4th quarter... It was a good contest and PC put on a nice day for us. Its a nice ground, but would be hard to play on a windy day.

They have a great setup and won't be in D4 for long.

5/5 with my tips this week, alot better than my afl ones are going this round.

p.s. what a cracka down at citation res y day

Yep - not many games are decided after the siren. A great effort to come from 5 goals down at half time. Citation Park is a bit of a fortress...

Congrats to RC - obviously a good win against the flag favourites. (They'll definitely get better playing more games together, but it's still a good win over the new boys.)

NB - Gryphons is an interesting one. Was it bad kicking, or good pressure? Should NB have got over the line?

Swinburne - EP hard to line up. Swinburne obviously OK - but where do EP stand? Still - double the scoring shots, so it's a good win.

MtL v the Chad - another that is a little hard to line up. How much has the Chad improved, if at all? So what does that mean for the boys from the swamp?

Was an interesting game. NB definitely had their chances, they missed a few shots but most points were from long shots, kicks under pressure or rushed points. NB started well and got within a goal with about 10 mins to go. Monash happy to get away with the 4 points but definitely played well below their best (credit to NB for their pressure and attack on the footy) but will improve each week with alot of new players coming together. I'd put NB in the mix for a finals spot for sure, shall be an interesting season

And the same for RC Waz?

They have 15 junior sides! no one in D4 can compete with that in the long run, except maybe South Mornington who have a handful I believe.

Tough loss for SM... Losing a close one at home, then having to travel to Monash in round 2. Ouch.

Yeah you're right 9. I had another look on the map and could see the goal posts now, right where they shouldn't be and I wasn't looking last week. Allard pard is 146m x 129m ( I measured all the way to a couple of metres from the edge of the grass), but as you said isn't quite symetrical

I don't think you'll find the Jeffers will play forward like that too many times. He was brilliant in bagging 5 goals - but was down forward more than usual because of a corky in the calf he sustained - and we needed someone else down forward after Josh Dimarco got injured. Really frustrating for Josh to get injured again - after kicking the first two of the game he was looking great. We really hope we can get Josh back soon and have him play regularly.

If you can kick five against one of the better defenses in the league, and on a 'slow' track as well from reports, wouldn't you leave him there?

If he'd been able to play in the middle all game, the game would have been much closer.

Interesting that Monash went down in the Reserves to NB... That wouldn't have been expected by the gryphs.
