News Daicos and Shaw to carry the Premiership Flag.

Just heard on Fox Sports News that 1990 Premiership heroes Tony Shaw and Peter Daicos will carry the 2010 Premiership flag through a guard of honour onto the ground on Friday Night.

I like the idea, our last premiership team presenting the flag to our new premiership team.:thumbsu::thumbsu:

Still unsure as to who actually "hoists" it up the post and unfurls it, maybe someone else.

Lour Richards and M. Wiederman will also be involved. What a line up.

Couldn't have pick any other two from that 1990 side.

Not sure what the actually ceremony will entail, but hopefully Burns, Lockyer, O'Bree ect. are involved. As for who will hoist the flag up, I would love to see Presti do the honours.

I and the whole magpie faithful there would love to see that, but he seems the type of guy that would feel uncomfortable doing such a thing.

Agreed on Presti. Would be an awesome touch if they gave it to him. If it isn't Presti, then maybe Buckley. He so deserves to be raising a flag.

It is going to look epic on Friday night seeing all the Collingwood champions involved. Good choice of Shaw of Daicos, I'm sure 1990 is still in the forefront of many Pie supporters.

The tradition is that the Presidents wife unfurls the flag.

Sweet, she's an alright lookin chick :p

EDIT: I don't think i could look at Vince Colosimo without thinking "here there is no cash.... tell him Robbo" :D

I'm pretty sure that didn't happen in 1991 when the 1990 flag was unfurled.

I know Alan Mcallistair and his wife were on the ground, but I think an ex player (maybe Lou or a player from the 20's and 30's) actually unfurled the flag.

Not that I'd have anything against her unfurling the flag, Ed has done so much for this club, him and his family have to be involved somehow.

No Vince, as a relative of mine who barracks for the Filth, he is just there to soak up the camera shots.

This bit makes me particularly happy. Hopefully they mike him up.:thumbsu:

It was Jock Mchale Jr who unfurled the flag in 1990.

I think Lou will be right in the mix to get the job this time.

Presti FTW

No one gave up more blood sweat and tears than this bloke only to get so far and miss out.

It would be a fitting tribute for him to do this and have a lap of honour for us loyal fans to give him a rousing send off reminiscent of the one we gave the last 35 before Micky McGuane's run and a spanking of the Blues.

Presti will get his lap of honour, but it won't be tomorrow night, there is no doubt he deserves one, and he will get it, but I'd say it won't be till our next home game, against the Dogs. Tomorrow night is all about the premiership team and list, he will be there no doubt as he was a large part of our success.:thumbsu:

I reckon the mystery person will be Leigh Matthews, there is a long list of everyone involved on the club's website... Matthews is the only notable person missing.
Rumours are (and it's only rumours) that it is actually Presti, as apparently he let it slip today that he will be in attendance at the MCG tomorrow night and he will play a "significant" role in the unfurling ceremony.

I'd say most pies fans are hoping it's Presti, while Lethal is highly regarded by all, he isn't a true "Collingwood man" like Presti.:)

Peter McKenna could be a chance. Club legend missed out on a flag same with tuddy a guy who gave all for the club. What about giving it to big kinky. 5 losing grand finals Peter Moore four.
