It's very simple. There isn't a player in this league who's media profile is so far in front of his playing achievements. Not one.

He's a reasonable player. A Superstar? Um, no.

Dont blame Thomas, i am sure his MO when entering league ranks wasn't to become a publicity seeker.
Blame the media who call players 'stars'. Thomas isnt the only one to get branded a star, well in excess of their status in the game. Even that twat Krakour got called a star in his days at the tigers. Blame the media, they fish and people dont question it enough. As for stars in the game, there would only be 4 or 5 at any time.

Collingwood supporters think Thomas is a superstar

Anyone who watches Thomas would say he has stagnated in the last 2 seasons but early on showed a flair for the game that rated fairly highly. In his 2nd season he was probably the difference between winning and losing in the Sydney and St K matches

He is no superstar but an honest contributor who is very much a team player.Tackles and goes in v hard. His lack of a tank is his biggest limitation. His biggest assest is probably he plays his best footy in the bigger games like finals.

His looks and use in marketing capaigns has seen him wrongly interpreted as an outside player who staps aside in the contest. Has been courageous from day 1

In summary is a player who hasnt yet delivered on his potential but not through lack of effort. Is currently an established AFL level player but a long way from being a star.

Collingwood rightly hope he will improve from this level.

A fair unbiased opinion, something a lot of bitter Saints fans cannot seem to muster. Dry your eyes you pathetic morons

Daisy doesn't strike fear in the hearts of anyone like King does for Collingwood.
Last time Collingwood set 2 key position players onto him after he had already been knocked to the ground. As we know Cloak came off second best and, in tears, tattled to the ump.

The time before Collingwood set 4 players against him and still their supporterd winged and cried about how big bad King unfairly beating up several of their players. There was only four Collingwood players and an entire King. All 5" 8 of him

Easily the most overrated player I have seen in my 25 years of watching AFL/VFL football. It's at the point where Thomas just looks foolish, as do those with his number on their backs. Anyone who didn't follow the game would think he sits with Ablett, Judd, Reiwoldt etc.. that's how he's portrayed by the media and the Collingwood media department. Pathetic.

Edited for accuracy. I for one have never rated him. He was a waste of a priority pick in a very very good draft. Not a huge fan of hypotheticals but if we identified a hole in our ruck department back then we could have picked up Mitch Clark. Instead we went for a skinny kid that could kick freakish goals but couldn't hold down a key position.

You are all right. Dale is not even in our top 10 at the moment.

But he sells newspapers because 10 year old Collingwood fans want his poster on the wall.

And every 40 year old mother and 17 year old teenage girl thinks he's cute.

I too would like to see the media focus calm down on Dale. But this isn't his fault. I doubt he went to the Herald Sun and asked for his poster. The Sun made the choice as to which player they felt would sell the most papers.

Dale is a bankable player.
