Regardless of the spelling mistake it is a good point.
Murphy copped a slap to the shoulder (in the centre of the ground), some time during the last quarter and threw his head back in the most appalling act of faking I have ever seen.
Never was there contact with any part of his face, head or shoulder, yet he proceeded to act as if he had just been hit by a steam train.
Even the Carlton blokes I was with at the time were cringing it was that bad.
At least he got rewarded for it I guess
Crap decisions went both ways so blaming a loss on a couple of frees is a little silly.
Or we can say that the umpire made a horrible decision regarding Medhurst's non-paid goal that would have brang us within two points and with all the momentum in the final term. Instead, due to a horrible decision Carlton were able to go down the end and kick a goal. No, the umpres had no effect whatsoever

Or we could say that when Dane Swan was gifted a goal when he was tackled with the ball yet was paid a free for holding the man, and that when Nick Stevens was tackled on the wing after handballing the ball letting Collingwood take the ball forward to kick a goal it gave Collingwood two goals they might otherwise not have had.
back at you.
Ok, the Dane Swan one I'll give you. Ridiculous free.
But Nick Stevens?? No way did he handball that, he took on two players, got tackled, and lost the ball. Incorrect disposal.
Holding the ball every day of the week.
To be honest, he can shove his flair up his arse until he can consistently produce good, simple, effective footy on a regular basis. When he can do that he is free to try his tricks.
He's still one of my favorite players and has taken giant steps this season, just needs to continue that development and not get sidetracked by the flashy stuff.
That checkside pass that was intercepted and rushed down the other end for a Carlton goal was just baffling decision making from Thomas.
I did notice Murphy get a coathanger in the centre square and no free was awarded late in the game , but then again Murphy was almost BOG while Thomas and Pendulbury were merely making up the numbers.its funny that a carlton supporter would say that
twice i saw murphy try to milk a free kick whenever he felt pressure on his chest he would throw his headache and somewhat dive back
and twice the umps were smart enough not to fall for that shit
I don't understand why people thought it was 'bad' decision making. He was in the attacking half of the ground and maybe just even inside 50 an attempted to create something. The 50 was crowded so 'bombing long' would just have resulted in a similar outcome.
Players should and thankfully are encouraged to express themselves when they are attacking, it just so happens it didn't come off this time. This happens from time to time. The amount of times he has pulled 'moves' off far outweighs the amount of clangers.
It's not as if he attempted a Daniel Motlop checkside pass inside his defensive half where it can prove costly.
u no what i meant
thats wat spending all of yesterday doing exams will do to u
i have only just been able to start walking again!
I don't think a collingwood played laid a hand on Fev all game, hence the scorelineI seem to recall a Fevola free kick in a similar fashion (or was it Fisher? Too many dodgy calls to properly recount yesterday) - Wakes, Brown and another Magpie (Harry?) were all in the square and didn't even appear to lay hands on him.

there were bad decisions all game to both sides. like all games umpired poorly, the only people that will complain and say they had it worse is the team that loses the game
yes, the umpiring was terrible, but if youre blaming that for losing the game you arent focusing on the real issue, which is why your club really lost... contested possession
if your blokes can win 1v1 footy, you're in strife
True, except your frees were predominantly inside the forward/back 50. However, we recieved 1 free in the first (and it was an OOF, not a real free), 1 free in the third and 1 free in the fourth, make of that what you will.
After the incident I mentioned before we were never going to win the game. Our momentum and confidence was shot to pieces. Hence, Carlton's domination from there on. I'm sure plenty of people on here and have played footy before; when you work your asses off to get within two points of a team only to have it taken away and the lead extended again to 14 pts it is 'demoralising'.
We were getting smashed all day in the hard ball gets but still managed to be pretty much even for the three quarters, even though the lead fluctuated between the teams throughout that time.
That's right put it all down to the umpires smashing your confidence and denting your momentum......I don't think you would ever hear that from the Geelong team at the moment....
Collingwood are fragile pretenders- can match it with the good teams only if the planets align correctly
Very ordinary game from the umps. It didnt decide the game, our immature attitude did that.
Fev played for a free at every contest from the second quarter (after he hurt his hand?) until midway through the third, and was paid 2 Barry Crockers.
Swan got a softie, same as one of Fev's.
Cam Cloke collapsed on the wing in the last quarter, was it his glass jaw? I was worried for the kid (still a favourite player of mine) but he got up again, perhaps he was foxing.
Thomas and Didak tried to cash in once or twice seeing as the ump was handing out goals, didn't get anything and quite rightly. However Thomas is not a serial diver and in fact is quite hard at it.
Part of the problem is it was "respect for umpires" week, so the umps decided they deserved respect rather than earning it with sensible consitstent decision making. Once the Pies fans gave them some stick for a couple of 50/50's early on they decided to "be brave". Sometimes the crowd can cow the umps (I think they won the game for us vs North rd 1 2007, stinking decision with the short 50) but sometimes they get all snarky and go the other way.
Pies were also dumb, giving up frees for interchange violations and about 4 centre square frees: thats just not taking the oppostion seriously.
I'm pretty snaky we keep losing to crap teams when our best footy is actually quite good.
