His kick was clearly over the same line, albeit at opposite ends, as the Geelong kick.

O'Briens smother was over the line as well
I don't know how the umpire didn't see itIMO, this was worse. He was about 2 metres over the boundary line when he smothered it?

In all seriousness that should have been a 50 shouldn't it... cos to me it looked blatently over the boundary when he smothered it....
3 goals due to umpire mistakes IMO
1-byrnes 2-thomas over the line 3-obrien over the mark
if all those decisions were correct it would ahve been a much different story
Wrong, he did.it surprised me, but johnson didn't complain at all, and just looked disappointed. made me think whatever happened was fair.
What was the call on the Byrnes one, over the line or hit the post?
Eh? He knows it was a goal, he's merely stating that according to the brand new goal umpiring system which was invented just this evening, Thomas was over the line (even though he wasn't). OP is having a go at the other GU, as he should. You Carlton morons would say anything as long as it's against Collingwood. So what if he smothered it over the line. Since when is that against the rules? As for saying Thomas was over the line, get a copy of the replay, slow it down frame by frame, make sure both eyey are open and have a good look.

Johnson marked the ball. a smother over the line would indicate that O'brien was over the mark
