There is absolutely zero chance we get pick 2 for Houston. We will most definitely have to give something back.
What is far more likely is North splitting that pick and passing on something later on in the top 10.

Geez he must really like his GF if Norf are a genuine chance.

if his GF is a Norf supporter they will pay double, desperately need to increase their gene pool

So given Petracca is staying at Melbourne, just curious why there has been no reconsideration of going to Melbourne under the original plan (despite Goodwin).

Unless the contract offers from all the other suitors have blown them out of the water?
How do we actually they arent doing this already? Melbourne, even with their recent baggage, is still a better option than Norf.

The funniest thing is when crows supporters insert themselves in the discussion.

The player has to agree to the trade!!!11!1!!

Not when he has 3 years left on his contract, sweetheart.

In years where you trade a future first, you can't trade any other future picks (unless bringing a future first back in).

To save us from ourselves, I think we need to get the Luko trade done first. At the moment we can't trade our future first without an exception - and the AFL's default answer to Port on anything is 'no'. So a future second will have to get it done, which is more than fair for a salary dump, but we always overpay.

If we bring in a first round pick, first round picks become tradeable again.
The suggested trade gives us North's future 1st.

Petracca is staying because no one can get anywhere near the asking price. Not that Melbourne aren't still a rabble.

Next year though, when clubs can trade multiple years of first round picks... thats a different matter.

Just take pick 2 from North and this honestly works well for both parties given there is a fairly consistent top 8 or so this draft and North need “a win” of some sort and players like Houston.

So if we were allowed to trade our future 1st maybe we could do:

Port :Houston and our future 1st and 2nd Rd picks

North: pick 2 and there future 1st
I’d be leavi by burnout future first.

You Sure? We are paying Ratugolea ****ing 800k a year to bring the ball to ground.
No we’re not.
Yes, we'd need to give a little extra though IMO.

If it were the other way around, I'd never give our 2 for Houston, but Houston and a future 2nd might be about right.
Why? hasn’t anyone on this forum been following the draft this year?

There’s no standout top players. It’s known as a good draft for depth but there is not the standout few players this year.

Most teams will have a completely different top ten. And it would be pretty hard to trade down this year really. If I have the choice of 2 or 6 + another pick, I’m taking 6. Prob get the same player you wanted at 2 at 6, or at least a comparable prospect.

I'm very worried we will bend over and send Houston to Carlton for f-all and spout something like "it's the best deal that we could get. It helps us get Luko and get back into the draft"

I hope I'm wrong
Carlton are trying to lowball us precisely because we have trashed players on the way out and undersold players. We have a history of giving in, so I don’t really blame Carlton for trying it on. I’ll blame Port if they capitulate and give in to a shit offer.

Are you drunk bro.
I wish, blind didn’t even notice the auto shit check. I wish these phones had buttons like a 9210 😂

Leaving out future first was what it as meant to say

And if Houston really wants to get back to Melbourne, he might decide he'd rather go to his second choice Melbourne club than stay in SA.

Depends if he wants sex in person or via Zoom.

That can only work if they are the only option and they aren't.

They're wasting time.

Apparently Houston had a meeting (chat) with Clarkson on the week end. Port prefer the North option as they have the picks. Carlton only offered a future 1st.
Port should go to his management and say that we can do a deal with North for sure but looks unlikely with Carlton.

If that sways his mind towards North then good for us. But we should be proactive in telling him which club we can deal him to cause that may help him nominate a club.

North have offered their first from next year, not this year's pick 2 where they have plans to split their pick 2.
