That dweeb looking Cal Twomey is suggesting that Daniel Rioli will fetch Gold Coasts pick 6. A guy, who outside team success only personal accolade is 2017 Goal of the Year. Dan Houston is coming off back to back All Australians with 3 years on his contract remaining. North's Pick 2 or nothing.
Rioli is 27 too.

Pick 6 😂 should be more like pick 16.
Gold Coast are there as back up for Victorian clubs.

We’ll have to give back something with Soldo then, unless GC really value the salary dump.

Not necessarily, the pick we get for Soldo could get the deal done. We can take on Luko's salary and smooth it out over a longer period.

Our F1 is a top 4 pick.

We could triple our wins and still get pick 4.

Maybe. It’s pick 3 at absolute best, tigers and west coast, well, they’ve got pick 1 and 2 sewn up.

But you’ve got the most improved ruck in the league (yeah prob more than sweet) , there’s going to be improvement from your highly rated young players , and Houston will improve you out of sight. Another year under Clarkson.

Honestly, if your still bottom 4 next year might as well fold.

Your future pick could easily be 4-12 (not unrealistic to expect a priority pick could be handed to tigers or eagles or compo picks get handed out).

Landing Houston , for a club that has missed out on gun players time and time and time and time again, would be the biggest recruiting coup for your club since, **** I don’t even know when.

Higgins?

One of the trades deals in recent history. Giving up a 1st rounder and splitting it into multiple 2nd rounders to get Soldo and Esava. Now Soldo is leaving after one year and Esava has been underwhelming to no one's surprise. What a blunder by the list management team giving up a lot for lets be honest, two B/C graders in the end.
Yeah after getting a few things right that was absolutely shocking.

"It leaves the Dan Houston trade in a perilous position." -
@CalTwomey

Apologies for the intrusion, I just wanted to provide some extra info.

The North list team did a Q&A last night and stated they still want to hit the draft hard this year as they want a crop of young players developing together. They seem to want 5 years of high end draft picks coming through together.

I'd imagine that means pick 2 wouldn't be on the table, and North would probably split it as part of an offer for Dan. So Twomey could be on the money that perhaps Dan ends up staying put.

(source in case anyone is interested: )

The biggest reason that Port were open to letting Houston go was because they thought they'd be able to get one of Cumming or Perryman (or both) in free agency to offset that loss.

But with Port missing out on them it leave them in a precarious position. Because if they let Houston go without having a ready made replacement it more or less with signify that they're willing to take a step back in 2025.

In which case, they should be aligning their entire footy department with that new vision (ie sack Hinkley).

So how do you think they would split pick 2? Go to Freo for 10 and 16 (that is around the quivalent pick value), give Port 10 and a future first?

If you weren't prepared to give up 10, then it wouldn't happen.
