Then we could trade Houston, 23, 2025 2nd to North for pick 2. I'd be happy to throw in Wines as well as we will get a better mid with pick 2

The fact Clarkson talked about getting Wines for experience, his skill as a midfield bull and leader etc would easily get pick 2 from them without a doubt. He's a brownlow medallist and would bring a huge amount to that young midfield. Stop under valuing port players so much. If North wanted Houston & Wines they'd offer their pick 2, 2nd round pick and future 1st with possible change very VERY easily.

They'd also contest for top 8 IMO next season too.

Are you surprised opposition clubs undervalue our players? The way we speak about them and our list pretty much speaks for itself.

North Melbourne are determined to use their strong draft hand to try and win the Dan Houston sweepstakes, despite remaining at long odds to defeat Collingwood and Carlton in the race for his signature.

The Houston trade is one of the more intriguing situations involving a quality player for several seasons, as the Blues and Magpies are not certain they will have the draft capital to convince Port Adelaide to trade a player with four years left on his contract.

The Kangaroos have the No.2 pick in this year’s draft and are open to “splitting” that selection, or their future first-round pick into multiple assets.

The article states not much progress has been made for pick 13 to Collingwood or Carlton, and quotes the North list boss Brady Rawlings saying North are prepared to explore all opportunities to offer the best deal to Port to get Houston.

Yeah, it's a bit hard to run the "how do you expect Ken to compete with the Spuddy McSpudface list he's been saddled with" narrative while simultaneously asking for two first rounders for Houston.

Port Adelaide’s Dan Houston wants to play for Carlton in 2025 and beyond according to SEN’s Sam Edmund.
That’s despite reports suggesting Collingwood is the favourite to land his services and even Pies list boss Justin Leppitsch telling AFL Trade Radio he’s confident in getting a deal done.
As things stand, Houston wants to return to Victoria but hasn’t nominated a club, with all of the Blues, Pies and Roos interested, but Edmund says that the two-time All-Australian’s preference is absolutely Carlton – he’s just not sure if he can force his way to IKON Park.“Dan Houston wants to play for Carlton, he absolutely wants to play for the Blues,” Edmund told SEN Mornings. “But the issue that he has is that Carlton now isn’t presenting the best option, they're not presenting the best offer for the player as well and thirdly, he's contracted, so there’s only so much pushing he can do to navigate a path through to his club of choice, which remains Carlton. “The Michael Voss (who was formerly an assistant at the Power) connection here is real, he wants to get to Carlton, but how he's going to do it could be one of the more fascinating subplots of this trade period.”
Edmund expects North Melbourne to present Houston with the best contractual terms and he also agreed that Collingwood are the favourites given they appear the most likely team to secure Gold Coast’s pick No. 13 in an overall John Noble trade. With Carlton adamant about taking their first pick to the draft this year, they’re also chasing pick No. 13 from the Suns to then give it to Port Adelaide to Houston. Unfortunately for the Blues, they may never get their hands on that pick which could unlock their Houston pursuit.
North Melbourne is going to present the best contract offer, there’s no doubt about that, they are in this up to their eyeballs,” Edmund said. “Then Collingwood at the moment has got the inside running in terms of the John Noble deal.
“Gold Coast are prioritising Collingwood because of John Noble coming in … they’re getting a look (at pick 13).
"he’s just not sure if he can force his way to IKON Park."
Let me assure you Dan that you can't.

Just ride this out til next Wednesday and see what the best offer is that lands on the table. There's no rush.
Yep. Feels like there isn't much point in reading into all the trade rumours too.

Personally, I just hope we break out the other deals from the Houston trade

Somehow work Soldo's value into a Luko trade.
IN: Luko
OUT: Soldo + future 2nd

Do the Richards deal cheap. Personally think he's only worth 58, but 39 should get it done.

IN: Richards
OUT: Pick 39

Ah I thought Draper was a top 3 pick at worst. Seems like I was wrong.
Twomey has him at #8

Unsure what we want from north.

I don’t see their future first as being anywhere near enough, too much risk it ends up being pick 8 alone. Why do that for Dan ?

Don’t want pick 2 alone either, don’t rate the top end of this draft that much that I would take just one pick.

Would tell north to get us 2 1sts with at least one being top 12. Happy for either both in this draft or one in the future is fine as long as we have one in this draft.
