AA, AFLPA MVP , every media award, Gary Ayres Medal, B and F … most brownlow votes ever and Norm Smith.
I don’t think it’s debatable …
Of course you don’t. But you’re Richmond fan boy.

Plenty of others on here agree that it’s very very debatable and a debate he’d lose

This is not a Richmond fan boy opinion. Leigh Matthews said the same thing and he's no Richmond fan boy.

Who had the better career?

Dusty then Dangerfield then Fyfe.

What is the only award that actually matters again?

They can debate all they want … No disrespect to Dustys teammates but the Tigers don’t win 2017 and 2020 with out him.
3 norm smiths 3 premiership medals…
2 of those are his own making.
Fyfe can enjoy his 2 brownlows and his ground coverage.

If kicking 4 goals on jake kolo is something of a legendary feature then i guess jordan de goey is a legend also??

Sorry mate but its a very legimitate debate. Dangerfield has had a much more consistent career to a higher standard than martin, and fyfe has won two brownlows. All 3 are on equal terms

Very sad how Dusty's career has been his twilight years. From the kidney injury that ended his season, to the loss of his father, to the time off with mental health issues, to the hammy that kept him out for months. His final years have been cruelled by unfortunate circumstances, would have been great to see him play out his final years in top form.

he also struggled immensely for consistency across his career which indicates a less talented player. I am a strong believer that consistency equals talent. All consistency means is the ability under a variety of situations and circumstances to perform to a high level.. dusty couldn’t do this. He needed a lot of things going his way to perform to a high level. Players like fyfe and dangerfield could put the team on their back better than he could.

Lacking consistency? He averaged 20 disposals and a goal a game in 10 of his 13 completed seasons. The ones he didn't were his first year, last year when he was mourning the loss of his old man and 2016 when he was a full time midfielder (averaging 31 disposals), 6 top 10 brownlow finishes, including a win and 3rd.

There is a common misconception that Dusty was inconsistent. That is because he was a victim of the standards he set for himself in 2017. His 2018 and 2019 seasons were also very good and outside of a 3 ish disposals per game lower, had very similar numbersto his 2017 season.

So to say Dusty isn't consistent is a bunch of misinformed nonsense.

The point of his inconsistency is more in relation to midfielders who have had far superior careers than him such as ablett jnr leigh matthews carey ablett snr. He did not produce elite stats for more than a couple of seasons which does not put you anywhere near GOAT discussions.

He is obviously a very good player and in discussions as the best player of the past decade, but i dont think any rational people will be putting him in GOAT discussions. His career as a whole is just not at the required standard others have performed to over 200-300 game careers.

Ummmm.... what?

Also, you list GAJ. Dustin Martin's career averages are extremely close to Ablett Jr's. GAJ is ahead by 0.35 disposals per game, 0.11 goals per game, 0.3 clearances per game and 0.02 goal assists per game. Dusty is ahead by 0.24 Inside 50's per game, 0.2 contested marks, 0.05 marks inside 50 and 0.02 brownlow votes per game.

His "career" certainly stacks up against Gary's.

Lol garry ablett averaged 30.8 disposals a game from 2007-2014. Including 8 AA, 2 brownlows and 5 Leigh matthews awards and 3 coaches mvps. a This is from roughly age 23-30. Martin averaged 26.4 disposals from 2014-2020… 3AA’s only and 3 norm smiths.. which is fair to call his mature prime years. Not even close to Garry.

You’re forgetting ablett played until he was a 36 year old manas well… dusty is barely going to make it to 32. I think career averages are not exactly fair. But a large sample in their primes is fair if you’re looking at averages.
