Jobe by a mile. Cross is a good player but isn't damaging. Watson sets up alot of play through his run from the clearances and attack at the footy.

This year, of the Essendon games I've seen, Lovett usually cops the #1 tag. Stanton also gets it about as much as Watson. I think it's way to early for anyone to say Watson is already better. If he can keep this up in 2010, I'll believe the crazy bomber fans but for now I'll take Cross who's been doing it for his entire career.

Oh and why wasn't this thread bumped after the Bombers vs West Coast game? Oh right, yeah, Watson was rubbish in that game.

This is just silly. Clubs know that Watson can handle tags very well because he goes in and gets his own ball so they try to go head to head with him.

Lol, sorry, I'm not going to take anything from Bomber supporters into account. Especially after today's game.

Watson is now greater than Cross in every single aspect of the game except for overhead marking, not that Cross is more than just above average in that aspect anyway.

Cross would be second to Bartel for midfielders in overhead marking. Way above average. I would also argue Cross is harder at it which for an in and under midfielder is mighty important.

Cross is probably the equal of Bartel with marking and he certainly outruns Watson by a fair margin.

Cross could play another 200 games and would not come close to producing a performance of the quality of Watson's most recent.

Cross won the Best and Fairest in a team that came 3rd and included the Brownlow Medallist, and he can't perform "close" to Watsons recent form??

Watson's had a better season. Over their careers Cross is miles ahead

I'm surprised that people can get sso worked up about this. Both are great at what they do, but they're never going to win a Brownlow or set the world on fire.

It is the Essendon way of atoning for 5 years of mediocrity.
They start lots of polls claiming their player is better than someone at another club to make themseves feel better.

No doubt we will see a poll on Tayte Pears compared to Brian Lake within 2 years.

At least we are building towards a flag, something we have done a number of times. Your clock is nearly passed midnight. One day you will get that elusive second premiership.

I'm sorry, you support the Western Bulldogs?

A club that has achieved one (1) premiership in a little under 100 years.

I'm not even trolling, but I honestly view the Bulldogs as basically filling a place in the top four until better sides (Adelaide, Brisbane, Hawthorn for a start) that are a legitimate chance of winning a premiership return there.

No doubt we will see a poll on Tayte Pears compared to Brian Lake within 2 years.
And why would that be so ridiculous? If Pears improves at his current rate (I'm not saying he will), in 2 years he will be one of the best Key Backs in the league. Lake will be 29 going-on 30, in a side that (assuming he stays at the Bulldogs) will be passed its premiership window.

Let me clarify; I'm not saying it's a sure-thing, but should the above happen, then in two years time said poll wouldn't be so far-fetched.

11 actually, and a CoV cup after we flogged you in 1924.
