Daniel Motlop's party tricks. Out of this world!

Motlop does some unbelievable shit on the footy field, but along with that comes some frustration at times when watching him play.

Maybe your too serious about your footy then. Ever mistake is in his best effort to win. If he becomes selfish then we have a problem.

definition for courageous: "the ability to face danger, difficulty, uncertainty, or pain without being overcome by fear or being deflected from a chosen course of action"

Knowing you have the ability to do these things takes away the fear of failure and thats why most players wouldn't even attempt what he does.

With out these soughts of players what would footy be?

incredibly gifted but, like many supreme talents, can disappoint. It's no good being able to kick goals from the stands if you can't kick the match winner from 25 out straight in front (v. saints in tassie a couple of years ago).

Motlop may miss the occasional goal from in front but over the last two seasons he has been one of the more accurate kickers in the game

2007: 44 goals 19 behinds
2008: 57 goals 19 behinds

He has let himself down this year though, with 19/22

Roos was at his funniest on this. From the Telegraph before the game:

"Asked if Motlop would be dangerous anywhere on the SCG tomorrow when Sydney takes on the Power, coach Paul Roos said: "Even outside the ground, he could be getting a cup of coffee and a hotdog and still kick one. I wouldn't want to be standing him."

Based on Port's three-point win against Richmond last week, most would have expected Warren Tredrea to be the forward on the Swans' minds. But Motlop was the primary focus as players tried to mimic his party tricks.

"I just had six blokes trying to do it before," Roos added.

"It's certainly one of those 'don't try this at home' things. I think we've done three hamstrings, dislocated a kneecap trying it, and somebody hit their leg on the fence trying that kick from the carpark.

"I have seen it, it is bloody impressive. Our blokes can't do it."

I've tried all of those and the one I can't do for the life of me is the one from behind the goals. Have tried doing it year after year and just can't get the right bend on it.

The kick up behind the back isn't that hard with practice, but vollying it through the goals from that angle is difficult. I did it once but it takes a long time.

I think that's the most impressive thing about Motlop, that he can do it straight off. I've been playing around with tricks like that for ages and occasionaly I pull them off, but not consistently.

I think the video is real and that Motlop is an absolute freak. But the only 2 that are "scary" is the "flick and kick" and the carpark snap, the other ones I would be confident of nailing (not now with my knee reco just being done) however not as consistently as Motlop could and does.

To all those people that are saying its a fake i ask;

If survey was conducted asking which player is capable competing such a feat then what would be the result? I would say 90% + would say Motlop.

He is a freak and is in a league of his own when it comes to party tricks.

Very poor pre game planning & coaching by Mark Williams against the Swans on Sunday!

He should have started Motlop in the carpark!
He would have caused some REAL damage to us from there!

After watching it a few times i dont think the angle is that much as it first appears when you look. I think the camera makes it look a bit better. Not saying i could do it, but just that where he hits the ball he'd be only just behind the goals if not inline.

Stephen Milne - love him or hate him - would certainly challenge Motlop in the tricks department. I think people have forgotten some of Aaron Davey's talents as well.

Yes well considering he was clearly hampered by injury, I even said it two weeks ago believe it or not. Although I wouldn't expect you to understand having seen all of about 7 games of AFL in your life :)

Funnily enough, Motlop has kicked 18 goals and 22 behinds in total for 2009 so far, yet I'm a troll for questioning a video of him slotting goals from all angles with one shot.

Do people really think, that as freakish as Motlop is, that all except one goal were kicked straight up?

I'm not questioning his ability, but c'mon people.....he's kicked 22 behinds this year, and you're not going to question whether the video and accompanying story of his one miss is fact?

I don't know what you watch, but in AFL matches, there is an element known as, 'pressure'.

Nathan Thompson also said he used to do these goofing around tricks at the kangaroos.

Pretty funny some of these hawk fans getting jealous because rioli's not being hyped up for once, so consequently these hawk fans in question have gone flaccid downstairs.

whenever i hear the name motflop i jsut remmeber that choke in front of goal

Being a derro you obviously are unaware of the goals motlop has scored in the dying minutes of games to keep port alive.

Motlop is one of those players that shit me to tears with his show pony attitude. I shake my head in pity when he runs around, arms out, yelling "whats my name whats my name" but I guess he does practice that stuff and the practice pays off so kudos to him for that.... he is good at it.

He's still a tosser though :)

Its great for the game. Im not a fan of "Arrogant" players like franklin, but its great to watch him play. Only thing I hate about him is the fact that everyone creams over him. His a footy player for god sake

Mmmm......................you know..........you are right actually!!

I have only ever watched the last seven games we have played against Port Adelaide!

Best one of the lot was the final in 2004!

Do you remember it.....................................it was a beauty!

But you're right! I should now further my AFL education & AFL knowledge a little more & start watching games where the Swans actually play against an opponent that is of AFL standard!:p
