Night and day. Best case scenario Galluci is Richard Douglas Mk2

It's decently interesting seeing i'm much more excited about Gallucci then I am about Fogarty at this stage.

I would say his best case is being what Douglas should have been, which is a bonafide star.

There is a lot to be excited about Fogarty, my concern is purely through being a potential man child (and ergo having a low ceiling)

Sydney had a number of injuries to senior players, about six IIRC. That's why they played the kids. Also why they started so badly.
Even disregarding last year, the previous few years Sydney have been very willing to play their first year players. Sure their kids have been very talented, but they were also able to cement a spot in the side. It's something we could certainly do a lot better.

Really?

I think Gooch has a lot more to work with than what Richard Douglas offers.

Still confident that he will surprise a few. He's got the work ethic and the desire to have the foot in his hands. Given his other attributes, I think this can take him far.

Early days yet and I’d love to be wrong. I just don’t see anything special in him at this stage. Didn’t receive much of a wrap from draft pundits either. Hopefully I’m really really wrong.

Fair enough.

Also don't forget at the time of the draft, there was a lot of talk more-so about the potential most see in a player like Gallucci and his higher ceiling.

Many wanted SPP for what he could contribute now, but seasoned professionals were a little wary of how much improvement he had left in the tank.

Time will tell in this regard I guess.

He is about 5x harder than Douglas and I havent seen him lose his feet once since he has been at the club.
Similar shaped skull though I must admit.

No offence, but Jesus Christ when did Douglas become a benchmark of a good career? Long career maybe.

Will be better than Dougie wherever he ends up. Bookmark it.

When he won a club bnf. Being best 22 of a consistent finals team. If Douglas hasn't had a 'good' career then very few players ever have.

Douglas ain't soft

Douglas is the epitome of soft.
His whole first 6-7 seasons he refused to take a hit preferring to go to ground under the guise of faulty footwear.
He plays well in a winning team and does sweet eff-all when the chips are down (discounting his B+F year when the whole team sucked) and has done his entire career.
You want a picture of Mr Vanilla then this man is your poster boy.

Therein lies the rub.
People splash the word mediocrity around on this board and comment on how willing we as a membership are to embrace it.
Well there you go.

Douglas you trade away before Vince all day any day if hardness, potential, talent or footballing intelligence have any say in the decision. Douglas you hang onto if you love a known(average) quantity.

strange post

So #32 it is for Fogarty! :thumbsu:
It was the only logical number for Fogarty ....continues a tradition of player types associated with the # ....albeit that small hiccup (menzel)

So much for the Crows policy of allocating new draftees high numbers (40's & 50's) :clapping:

He had 18 months of poor footy in between 10 years of pretty solid stuff. Very strange posting

That part is absolute total bullshit, Douglas is as "hard" as any player on our list and bloody lot harder than most, he may have his faults but hardness is absolutely not one of them.

Not sure I like him getting the 32.

Let him make his own mark

Both his BF years were two of our worst years.

If anything, Douglas has had a career that's been the exact opposite of what you've described. Always killed it when we've struggled, and until this year always dropped off when we are doing well.
