But that would set us back in the short-term because those draftee kids will take time and Jordy and Moore are seasoned players now.

I disagree with you lot on that.

Who has said it wouldn't cost us in the short term? Who is to say that we can't attract replacements with the accumulated warchest?

De Goey in my opinion is the one we need to prioritize. Moore is a gun no doubt about it, but replacing Moore I think would be much easier than JDG.

De Goey can do things inside 50 that few can, reckon only Martin and Franklin, are in the same sort of category for their ability to win one on ones and kick multiple goals, plus his ability to go into the midfield and be equally damaging there.

If losing Moore meant we would be able to get someone like Cameron, I'd be all for it.

If we couldn't keep Moore, I can't see how we would get Cameron.

Apologies Left. For a moment there you were wearing moccasins and baggy old tracky pants whereas in fact you're a man of class and substance likely wearing moccasins and baggy old tracky pants.

EFA

To hot for mocco’s, and would not be caught ever wearing tracky pants. Thongs and boardy’s always, thank you very much

I am a bit biased here, if we were to lose one of Darcy or Jordan to which aloud us to get Cameron, it’s Degoey.
Darcy sets the back line up beautifully, and will be just as bigger star than Jordan. The trade currency jordan has at the moment is also higher l would think and so is his asking price.
In saying this l believe we will keep both, and it will be interesting who has to go if any for this to happen

and there goes the premiership window
Tend to agree with that, you need a certain number of players in that mid 20s group ideally to contend for a flag. To move Darcy and Jordy on for teenage talent moves us out of the flag window.

I don't think Cameron will leave GWS either.

Maybe, maybe not. Depends on how players on the list develop this year and who we might be able to attract as replacements. Even if we opted for the 5x top 20 draft picks then there might be some short term pain, or we might add a player who has a debut season like Sam Walsh or Stevo.

I agree.

Hypothetically speaking a fit Moore is just as valuable as Jordy, perhaps moreso if team structure is taken into account.

Should they remain healthy and stay at the club we will be blessed with 2 "once in a generation" talents.

The injury clouds over both make me suspect that if one of the 2 was to move, that it would be a strategic decision by the club to let them.

The equation seems to be De Goey or Moore... but there is also Stephenson in the picture.

Finding more money to satisfy both De Goey and Moore will be an achievement. Finding enough money to satisfy De Goey, Moore and Stephenson (in 2021) will be very difficult.

If it is done the risk is having too many players on 500k to 1mill.... Pendlebury, Treloar, Sidebottom, Beams (technically) Grundy, De Goey, Moore, and then Stephenson in a salary cap of 13million... and how this affects retaining the next tier of important players like Adams, Elliot, Howe, Langdon, Maynard, etc

The risk is in coming years the club may have to rely too heavily on cut price veterans for too long, finding quality DFAs or on draftees quickly maturing

If Richmond can afford Dusty on $1.2m, Lynch on $1m, plus Rance (I know he’s gone but they still had him in there), Cotchin and Reiwoldt, In addition to Prestia on $750k, I’m not sure why we should be having such issues with retaining Grundy on $1m, and Moore/JDG on $8-900k? Stephenson shouldn’t be an issue either with his salary probably being mid range unless he makes a massive jump to stardom. Retaining our players should be a relatively simple task, particularly with Beams’ contract looking like it will be off the books in 2021.
