So I should try and cancel my Coleman bet? o_O

While As you know I am not a fan of the overtly negative, I am also not a fan of excess positivity.

He is a kid playing arguably the toughest position on the field with very little support. I think the chances of him repeating last weeks effort a relatively low. That is not to say he will be very good in the long term, but we should not be raising our hopes too high at this point in time.

Hopefully the 5 goals on the weekend ended this funny business of playing him down back.

The kid is a natural forward. Let him develop there and hopefully become our next key forward.

Well going by Bucks press conference after the game. That he sees him as a Forward from now on.

Hopefully they stick to that as is a Forward and not a Defender. Though can play down back IF he has to but not his Best Postion

Odds are he'll go missing rhis week is young will get moore attention and cloke not playing. ..if he can snag 2 I think his done well

He will be Ben Reid 2.0 (without the injuries)

AA forward who can play KPD to a high level (hopefully)
Has the scope to be more versatile than Reid. He can play forward or back, had stints through the ruck, and even through the midfield in the TAC cup.

Eh, playing in the ruck against some skinny undersized kid in the TAC cup and playing ruck in the AFL are completely different.

He has the athletic ability to play in the midfield, but I don't think he has the ability to find enough ball (particularly from contests). Of course he could develop these things in the future, but I have him pencilled in as a 95% time forward who very rarely goes defence if things are going pear shaped.

Versatility isn't a necessity when you can play 1 position to an elite standard.

I view him as a young richo, hopefully without the stupidity and selfishness that chacterised richos early career.

I'm doubtful that he will play through the midfield too, but wouldn't discount it. I think he has the potential to be a taller, more athletic version of Roughead.

From what I've seen of Moore he is almost an exclusively "mark and kick" player. Where as Roughead has a much stronger ability to coast around the ground and win ground balls and get handball receives ect. So far (and it's early days) Darcy hasn't really shown that ability to find "easy" football, he struggles to get over 10 possessions (even in the VFL) but all his possessions are super high impact.

That's mostly why I never see him in the midfield, he will always be a low possession getter but have a very high impact with them (A taller forward version of Cyril Rioli maybe? :p)

Hopefully he can learn to get that space and have the tank to run up the field for those 'easy' possessions. It's not vital for a FF but very handy.

Wait, what.?I've seen Moore on several occasions run along a wing, pass off a ball then keep running to receive the one two. He doesn't find a lot of the ball when playing key position, but he has shown the capacity to improve that part of his game.

It always amazes me when people say 'x player will always be this'. It completely discounts a players potential development, and in Moore's case, he seems to show a lot of development in a short amount of time when thrown in at the deep end. He's a fast learner, and at this stage of his career in loathe to to say he's incapable of anything. He just has too much potential to prove doubters wrong.

Fwiw, Roughead was never really a high posession getter early in his career either. Mostly sat around the 10 posession mark with the odd 15-20 thrown in every now and then. He didn't really start getting a lot of the ball until his 4th-5th year

Apex, as I clearly said, Moore is young and any future projections of him are purely hypothetical. I'm not discounting potential development, just giving my opinion on where I think he will end up.

I don't classify getting a "one two" as knowing how to get easy outside ball, even kids playing under 10s know how to do a one-two. Even in his TAC year he got very very few possessions, same in the VFL and same in the AFL. I just see that as one of the weaknesses of his game. Nearly every possession he gets (so far) he has to earn, it's an area I'd like to see him grow in over the next few years.

Him and Scharenberg are nearly at opposite ends of the spectrum when it comes to this, I'd like to see them both get closer to somewhere in the middle in 2016.

I think chances of him repeating last week's effort are extremely high.

I think chances of him repeating last weeks outcome are relatively low.:)

Let's give our development coaches some credit though and back them in to improve this part of his game.

How many times does it have to be said that time in the backline can be an important development tool for any young forward? Learn the defensive side of the game, learn how to follow the ball, learn from a grown FF/CHF what running patterns they use and how they lead up to the ball, and find out what things make it uncomfortable for a defender to deal with.
These things can be used purely to benefit his development as a forward (let alone, the possibility of him having the capability of being a swingman throughout his career... which could be a very useful tool).

...and kids can develop in the VFL as well as the AFL. Player development is not exclusive to the AFL.
