I said before the move forward that if we do it there’d be a cost. Forwards kicking bags for the opposition is merely the easiest realization of that cost to see. As I said at the time, I wouldn’t have moved him. Losing Howe just magnifies that. But now we’ve made the move, we need to stay the course.

And waste everybody's time.

Darcy won't care if Bucks ain't there next year. I think a good coach would always play Moore where he is most dangerous. And that is defense. He's a weapon, no doubt about it.
Barely a pop gun atm. Should have stayed at home and it would not have made any difference to us. His form, like Maynard's has fallen off a cliff.

Too many have fallen off that cliff this season. And it's a long climb back up.
Agree we are such a terrible team and club atm but the only way now is up. Players like Maynard and Moore will learn from what it is like to be bashed by the media for being so poor and it will make them more determined we hope.

Well, those that don’t like the move, and let’s face it, there’s hardly likely to be a better time to experiment. I wonder how many complaining about were the more stringent calling for it to happen. Seems some are just never happy.

Some need to have a long, hard look in the mirror. Not only Maynard and Moore but also Sidebottom, Pendles, Sier, Hoskin-Elliott, Josh Thomas and at times Grundy.
Pendles and Sidey have given us good service over the years and I fear the climb may be out of their reach now. But the efforts of the others have really disappointed me. I read somewhere where Grundy said it's not all about winning flags. Is this true. I hope not as the flag is the only goal IMO.

Bit hard to be critical of the defence when both Moore and Howe aren’t there at the moment and they’re under siege. Yesterday a prime case, GCS had numbers and structure behind the footy but then had the numbers ahead of the footy on transition. Team defence was deplorable and we were just outworked.

And hence the problem mainly lies with the coach.

No way, I would hate to see Moore moved back again, what a waste of talent. Could be all Australian CHF if we persist, his ability to find targets inside fifty is gold. Cox is gone, not the solution, unless he suddenly becomes a reliable inside fifty mark at 30+, meaning clunking uncontested marks with out fail.

Backline development, CFC have a number of young promising replacements coming through, these young players need to be backed. Kelly is 194/195 cm All Australian U18 CHB, is also a good contested mark, kick and has excellent mobility and endurance. Keane 194/195 cm who needs to be backed too, looks like his strengths are marking, mobility, kicking and aggression. We also have Wilson another 194 cm mobile defender with good skills coming through, who is looking the part at VFL level. Throw in Murphy, Ruscoe and T Brown who are all 192/193 mobile, tough, skilled utilities and the club could really develop something exceptional.

That's my opinion, Moore is all X factor and CFC need him forward of the ball, backing our young players already being developed is the way to go!
Exactly people expect that we move him forward and he has to be a star over night. It will take time, you also have to factor that he is carrying an injury

I think he's more suited to defence where he can jump freely more often and can utilise his dash. To me they're his two biggest strengths which disappear when he's forward. Fair enough to see what he can do up forward at the moment. If we're not going to experiment now, then when. But I think his future is in defence.

In terms of he might leave if he gets played forward, we heard the same thing when he went back. Darcy is the only one who genuinely knows what he'd prefer. But I think most good defenders would be keen on testing themselves up forward. I think he would have been quite happy to have the opportunity.

He wasn't even attempting to jump though even the week before, he wasnt jumping in like usual down in defence. Playing injured i reckon.

And its not because he was being " knocked off his run or line" like you say happens to him.
There were many times he could of polaxed the smaller defender or jumped on him and he just did a bit of a limp double feet vertical jump to make low impact contact.

He's had better games up there as a fwd as junior, i dont think its indicative of what he would produced if trained and played all off-season fwd gelling with mids and the fwd grp.

He told Garry Lyon a few weeks ago he would prefer to play fwd (prior to it happening) but happy to play anywhere for the team.

People would want peak Tony Lockett to move to the backline at the Pies at the moment as he wouldn’t be getting a touch due to the insipid midfield delivery.

Nah. Much more a byproduct of playing the kids. Knowing where and when to run takes time. We’re just lacking that cohesion and instinct that comes with consistent games together.

‘Checkers is still performing so that argument has some holes.

If he is injured then he shouldn’t be playing. If he isn’t he should be playing back until at least Howe returns to support/teach Kelly, Keane, Wilson, Tohill or whoever else we need to replace him long term.

We have robbed Peter to pay Paul. If we are to play him forward long term we need to develop replacements. I think the best way to do that is with him in defence supporting his replacements. It also has positive impacts on Poulter, Macrae and whoever else we play up field. Least we have a chance to transition out of the back end.

Checkers was the main target much of the entrys inside 50 last 3 weeks.

And many of moores leads since going fwd get ignored, checkers himself ignored Moore in a deep 1v1 in the last.

What people forget here is with Moore and Cameron that allows checkers his preferred role, 3rd tall and gets the third defender. Our preference should always be checkers as a third. The issue is cox and Cameron can’t and shouldn’t play together.

Moore only has another year on his contract after 2021.
Reckon he will have plenty of offers and will take one.
Cant blame him for wanting to get out of the clusterfu** that is CFC 2021.
Guess though we will be compensated through free agency at the end of next year. So win for him, win for us.
