Clearly Peter was pretty good then.

Peter Moore was an out and out champion even beyond what his record (2 x Brownlow, 2 x Copeland, AFL HOF inductee) shows and he could literally do it all.

Was a marvel to watch in full flight and mum used to tell me that I was devastated as a young tacker when he (and Rene Kink) left the club in '83.

Is it possible that Darcy is as talented as his old man or was Peter much better?
Darcy is a generational defender but Peter broke the mould for ruckmen.

2 Brownlows is just part of the story Moore was a great ruck, good forward and capable of running like a wingman.

One of our all time greats.

Would have been one of our all time greats if he won both the Brownlows at Collingwood. Unfortunately that tarnishes his legacy somewhat

True

Given the thread is about Darcy and Collingwood I'll happily point out that unfortunately Peter Moores legacy in that context is not as strong as it otherwise may be. Forgive but dont forget.
No argument Timmy, it's happened before down the years . . . not the brownlow but other Collingwood greats leaving for better opportunities or money.

I was no less disappointed when he left but even in those days contracts were becoming negotiable, present day player managers and the draft have only codified and intensified it.

I've seen enough wrecks of human beings who had long careers in contact sport to understand their need to get the maximum bang for their bucks in their careers.

But as a fan it still hurts.

Congratulations to Darcy. What a champion footballer. We’ve lucked out with this father son, and are on a similar trajectory with the Daicos’ progeny.

What is the plural of ‘Daicos’?

Maybe too early to call these family dynasties, but why not? At the very least it will annoy the hell out of other clubs.:p

Also gives us something to crow about in this crappy season.

Perhaps a dynasty of Daidos' qualifies as a pantheon.

I heard Peter Moore say that he was wrongly fingered by Collingwood fans to be blamed for the way he left saying that Tom Sherrin sold him out. He reckoned that the press blamed him for rallying the players against Tommy Hafey which was the opposite. He said that the players had lost faith in Hafey because he blamed them when they lost the granny to Carlton in 1981. Moore said the tried to get the players to keep the faith in Hafey but Sherrin told the press that Moore had instigated trouble against Hafey calling a meeting with the players. He said that the deception annoyed him and the place had become toxic so went to Demons when he got the offer. He also said that Collingwood would have matched the money. So there are 2 versions of what the truth is here.

I heard Adam Treloar say that he was wrongly fingered by Collingwood fans to be blamed for the way he left saying that Eddie McGuire sold him out. He reckoned that the press blamed him for rallying the players against Nathan Buckley which was the opposite. He said that the players had lost faith in Buckley because he blamed them when they lost the granny to Eagles in 2018. Treloar said the tried to get the players to keep the faith in Buckley but McGuire told the press that Treloar had instigated trouble against Buckley calling a meeting with the players. He said that the deception annoyed him and the place had become toxic so went to Dogs when he got the offer. He also said that Collingwood would have matched the money. So there are 2 versions of what the truth is here.

2021 version Adam Treloar style

Me too. Shame we’re probably going to get flogged in front of precisely no fans, but I’ve got to think there’s good things in store for Darcy at Collingwood. As it is, he’s worth the price of admission alone.
