I don't get this bit if we find someone new in September or October.
  • Return to Alberton in both October and November to plan and implement Port Adelaide’s 2017/18 pre-season program
agree - this is ridiculous. We go and find a successor, yet that successor gets told what he should do by Burgo.

This is all wank. I think this will hurt us more than we believe.

It infers that he will plan it and let the new person implement it and only need to do minor tweaks.
I know what it infers, but if you are the new bloke why would you want to implement someone else's fitness program. Do we want the new guy to lead or are we that scared that only Burgo knows what to program for the group? If I got the job I would want to implement my ideas not someone else's.

That's just the "Tack this on the end to keep people happy" spin. I doubt anything will ever come of it.
True... but there could actually be something to this. The Club quite possibly is seen as an attractive partnership proposition with the China thing, sports-science etc.

Time will tell.

I'm looking forward to a groundbreaking partnership like the one we have with Penrith.

Penrith Panthers and Port Adelaide Power form groundbreaking alliance between NRL and AFL
The NRL and AFL have long been enemies, but the Penrith Panthers and Port Adelaide Power have formed a groundbreaking alliance.
In a move likely to reverberate through both NRL and AFL headquarters, the Panthers-Power affiliation is a revolutionary partnership aimed at helping both clubs develop their brands in a bid to compete with the premier organisations of their respective codes.

Hello, is there anybody out there ...

What it tells me is we will promote Mckeown into the role and recruit someone to replace McKeowns original role.

The replacement will just be a Burgess clone. Darren will come over to make sure no deprogramming has occurred.

I'd rather he **** off and have no say in anything, while we employ a new fitness coach, but that's none of my business.
Can't do that given what we have set up with UnisSA by itself and the UniSA and Shandong Sports University and the Shandong Research Centre of Sports Science partnership and Burgo being an integral part of these partnerships.

What a disaster.

Single point of failure and all that.

Why?? They wouldn't have signed up without Burgess and the likelihood was that he would go elsewhere after his 2018 contract. So this situation would have been expected, just came 16 months earlier than expected. Clubs have been coming at Burgo every year and the club was well aware of it.

im actually a bit excited about this now. Will be awesomeif we land the right person, and also have access to fitness technology from one of the largest sporting organisations in the world
Time to be positive, too much negativity around here on all accounts, and Eddy has a highlights package up, he must be in!

I honestly don't know what people expect the club to do other than try and put a positive spin on the situation. There is no way the club can hold Burgess if he wants to walk out on his contract nor have his new employer pay compensation. The only leverage the club has is that it appears Burgess has probably not given the required notice to break his contract and wants to be release early.
