Nah I think its a good move for a player to get out of their comfort zone and learn from other coaches. He can come back in a couple of years and be a part of another kangas premiership team.

As for King the player, he was a great barometer of the team. If they were down and needed a lift it was usually kingy who would provide it. Much like Mark roberts in the old days.

How about that soccer goal off the ground from inside the centre square. I think that's the only time that Kingy himself was surprised that he'd kicked it... and even then only a half a second of shock before he went back to his cocky self... Great Stuff!

This is a 'no brainer' General Lee. Kingy was absolutely the epitomy of what we all loved about the Roos great years. From humble beginnings and with a heart as big as "the 'G" itself, his barnstorming runs, big goals, and "lip" to opposition players and supporters would fire all of us plebs in the crowd like nothing else....................let alone the inspiration it would provide the other North players.

There's another thing that WE all know about Kingy too.............apart from being a legend of a player, he's also at the top of the tree as far as clubmen go, and you'll go a long way to find a higher quality bloke to have around the club. You're very lucky to have him around your young blokes, at such an impressionable stage of their careers, and his influence will be nothing but positive for all of them.

We do love kingy, and do hope to see him return to Arden St one day, armed with some really valuable experience under Terry Wallace, and very few (if any) begrudge the fact he's elsewhere to kick off his coaching career.

I'm sure you'd have loved him as much as us if his arrogance and brilliance had been in the black and yellow for the past decade mate. He's a legend, and may he return to us soon!

Totally agree and he was always the first one with a smile and a hello and great to have a beer with.
Can't wait to see him return with a bit of experience from elsewhere.

I'm joining the kingy love in. Just a great player for our club and i will miss seeing him play.

ps. as for face of o'brien, i thought that that kingy's actions were well disguised but still completely deliberate.

Never cared what opposition fans thought of our guys. I'm joining the King 'love-in'. Any Roo fan would say he was a star. The knees into Craig O'Brien in the 1996 GF was reckless but accidental, but what I loved was Kingy getting up and yapping at O'Brien that he was soft and should get up (despite needing a s*** load of stitches and concussion). Great stuff. I'm still disappointed he "retired".

Showed exactly how ruthless we were in those days. One of my highlights too MM.

As Jerry Seinfeld's mother says about her boy: how could anyone not like him?? Kingy was a delight to watch and I look forward to his return.

Talked the talked, walked the walk. Must admit, I had a love/hate relationship. Loved the guys, hated the skulls. Mark on the back flank, 4 bounces and a goal....that'll be another 6 skulls....

Got into the rooms in 95 on a Friday night game V Tiges where Duck went sick and won us the game.

So took the camera and got a pic with Duck and Horse and yeh they were amicable.

Kingy comes along, says 'yeh sure mate', grabs me like an old mate and we get this great pic together.

Managed to get him to sign it later on through contacts.

Just one memory of Kingy.

ah hes not playing mate and many have wished him good luck, a hemophiliac should wish for that little bleeding:confused:

we are reminiscing and king will be remembered for his premiership playing days at the roos, a roo at heart always

Bloody hell you lot, I love to see how many replies I'd get if I asked about Anthony Stevens, now there's one bloke i had the utmost respect for. Hated Kingy when he was playing. Hope he's good for us.

Well I asked and good to see you sticking fat with him. Just out of interest what were your thoughts on one of our champions, Matty Knights?

He will be good for you guys, always willing to help out the clubs youngsters... HOWEVER!!! He will always bleed blue and white blood!!

Kingy, definetly a team player. Loved the club and teammates immensly. Proof of this is shown on the turf. Notice that every little scuffle that occurs out on the ground involves Kingy at some stage - he was always their first to stick up for this mates....

Kingy, hope to see you back at Arden St soon!

what a champion!!! i remember the game against the bulldogs and brown showed him the ball as he was kicking the goal, kingy was the only one to remonstrate with him. Heard from one of the officials that in the rooms at 1/2 time that kingy gave it to the boys and told them to pull there fingers out and not let that s hit happen we came back from 40 odd points down to win the match. All thanx to Kingy.

I remember hearing Brown say how he felt like an idiot when Kingy got stuck into him, as he had so much respect for him after going to Ireland and playing with him in the All Australian side.

He was the first player that I really ever had as a favourite, he always had something to say to you and he turned up to every function that I have ever been too.

Loved him.. and miss him more then I could ever have imagined..

I HATE him being at Richmond.. I hate that now when I see pictures of him, he is in Richmond colors, and not North colors.. I hate that the young blokes he is teaching are Tigers, not Roos.

I hate everything about it, but I adore him... fantastic player- and despite sticking it to many a crowd, hes a fantastic bloke.

Go Roos

Kingy is very much a Rooboy and well loved by Roo supporters. He is very good, and also very loyal. Not something Tiger supporters understand. (I take more than a passing interest in A. Krakouer.)

Matty Knights was a squib. He was soft. If a player touched him, he went down as if he was shot.
