LeBron

How about ;

Commissioner of the NFL Roger Goodell: "You mean a league where a set of specific East Coast teams are blatantly favoured in all aspects of the game? Yeah, i'd like to see that"
Chairman of Juventus Andrea Agnelli: "You mean a league where they pay players less per year then I pay Ronaldo per day? Yeah, i'd like to see that"
Impeached president of FIFA Sepp Blatter: "You mean a league where they change the rules mid season and nobody does anything to stop it "Yeah, i'd like to see that"
Literally any MLB player coming off a 162 game regular season: You mean a league where the season is 23 games long and at a minimum play more then half your games at home? Yeah, i'd LOVE to see that"
Every list manager in every other professional team sport everywhere: You mean a league where the player gets to decide who they are traded too? Yeah, i'd like to see that....Actually no, no that sounds terrible!

Seems to be referred to in this article:

In Plowman's appeal hearing, appeal board chair Murray Kellam said "The fact that contact happens in the course of a contested mark doesn't mean it is permitted."

Then why don’t players get suspended for kneeing opponents in the head when flying for speccies?

Give the AFL time. In time they will bring in a rule that you have to jump vertically with your legs at a marking contest and not leave the ground by more than 50cm.

Old mate on SEN talking about training to pull out of contests.
Worlds gone mad.
In other news:

"Luke Jericho to make a comeback"

I get the impression that the AFL are simply trying to avoid future litigation by making sure that they raise a charge against anybody in any and every situation where somebody gets a head injury. Nothing to do with the rules, nothing to do with interpretation: just cover their arses for future liability (and present insurability).

Most definitely.

but, thinking about it, how does someone, or their family if they are deceased, prove to a judge beyond reasonable doubt that their concussion was caused by playing AFL football for one of the 18 AFL clubs???

95% of AFL players wouldve been playing footy for years prior to playing at the top level. Playing for schools and local clubs.. then a lot of these players also go on to play footy for smaller leagues and local clubs after their professional careers in the AFL finish.

how do they actually prove the long term damage to their brains were caused solely by the games they played at the top level. Its impossible. Are they actually going to try and claim the only time they recieved a concussion was playing AFL.

and whats even more harder to prove is that the damage has even occurred.. as it can only be proven definitively via autopsy after death.

if it doesnt have to be proven definitively to a judge in a court for a player to be payed out compensation then every single player that every plays the game will simply claim they have issues due to concussion and put their hands up for a payout when their careers are over..

With all due respect, you are absolutely wrong with your assessment of the incident. Mackay arrives at the ball near simultaneously with the Saints player - I’d actually love to see a forensic analysis of just how close it was… I’m guessing it would be measured not in tenths but in the hundredths of seconds. He clearly has eyes for the ball and is attempting to pick up the ball even at the point of contact - at no time does he “choose to bump”. See previously posted screen shots for proof. Mackay does not jump off the ground and has a foot planted squarely on the ground at the point of contact and that initial contact is between shoulder and arm (again, see aforementioned screen shots). It’s only due to the collision that Dmac is thrown up and over the Saints player, which results in his injuries.

It’s actually astonishing that for such a talked about incident, there still exists a bunch of people who are oblivious to what it even constituted.

The fact is, whether hundredths of seconds or not, the Saints player got to the ball first and was lower over the ball. Mackay's shoulder broke his jaw.

I call it a football incident. But I also see nothing wrong with Mackay being suspended, given the Saints player got to the ball first.

The aim of the game should always be to protect the player over the ball.

We're following live on our board for those interested

AFL not going with it was a bump, more the vibe.
