Teal is a perfectly fine tertiary colour.
The problem with the identity is "Power". It's never really landed and it's a mistake we should rectify.

Nah, just drop the American style nickname thing completely.
weird thunder bolt character that is supposed to represent power somehow.
The nickname has no historical relevance, no link to our location, no link to our name, etc. It's just random and made up.
lol, you cannot be serious with this.
Yeah I get it but it's still abstract compared to say the Eagles being represented by an eagle mascot and having an eagle flying around the stadium.
That's the problem when you choose a dumb nickname.
If only we had a flying pirate at our games.
Not really, we've done it with kids stuff. We really missed the boat with the Pirates thing.
I reckon the nickname would have to be the least of our concerns. I actually like the Power as a nickname. Why does it have to be an animal or character of sorts? Where some lame mascot can make more sense?
do the suns or blues have a mascot that makes more sense?
For all intents and purposes we don't actually have a nickname.
We are the only club where our nickname can't be expressed as a noun - eg 'former SUN'.
We are one of a handful of clubs where our nickname doesn't appear in the logo.
We have a mascot which essentially doesn't make sense - ie a weird thunder bolt character that is supposed to represent power somehow.

You could delete it tomorrow and just be called Port Adelaide and everything would continue as per usual except the song.
Power was for the power station I thought? For all intents and purposes we don't actually have a nickname.

Yep but also agree it's not Port's biggest issue at the moment. The name SUNS and the yellow and red as the basis for the identity is pretty great for the Gold Coast, they just haven't done anything good with it yet.
The Blues have more than a century of history with their name.
Power is just a very-product-of-the-90s NBA style name, as were the guernseys we started with. We realised the guernsey needed to change and changed it, we just need to go one more step.
Agree with this, I imagine it's because all the surveys and focus groups are telling them that Power stuff is boring and nobody likes it, where as Port stuff is great and everyone loves it.
I'd be very happy to drop Power by stealth, start directing the AFL to call us Port and dropping all reference to Power. As you say, we're most of the way there anyway.
A game against someone other than the Crows breaks it out from being a little South Aussie throwback, into 'Well if they can wear it versus St. Kilda / Melbourne / whoever, why not anytime?'. Hence why a step one of trading Showdown for Anzac Day should be a club priority. The current regime though hate everything about the PB's except the money they bring in. So any risk of expanding that to more fans being interested in it, and Port's prior success by extension, would have their spines shivering.I really want the PB for Anzac Day. Don't understand why that game isn't the clubs first priority.
the current regime hate everything about the PB's? Sounds highly unlikely.A game against someone other than the Crows breaks it out from being a little South Aussie throwback, into 'Well if they can wear it versus St. Kilda / Melbourne / whoever, why not anytime?'. A couple of foul-mouthed pirate wenches would get you on deck.
So you are saying we could drop the nickname entirely and it would barely make any difference? I think that is a good thing as we don't want the nickname overpowering the actual name Port Adelaide. We learnt that lesson with the Port Power branding at the start. The name SUNS and the yellow and red as the basis for the identity is pretty great for the Gold Coast, they just haven't done anything good with it yet.

Except the money. This is the regime at any complaint, reflexively responds 'Remember 2012!'. The club and any success didn't exist prior to Ken, except for the occasional chance to milk merchandise revenue out of fans, according to them.the current regime hate everything about the PB's? Sounds highly unlikely.
What do you want to go to the game wearing an eye patch carrying a sword or something?
Yep but also agree it's not Port's biggest issue at the moment.
Port Adelaide Pirates already exist and had that identity before we entered the AFL. I wouldn't be a fan of trying to bully them out of their nickname
