Days since Hawthorn beat the Bombers

Last time I checked I`m sure each club played under the same rules (except for a bit of salary cap shenanigans !)

Yeah but the rules were lame (round robin ftl:rolleyes:), you robbed North Melbourne of their zoned players and their were only 7 teams competing against you anyway.

Crawling from nowhere, they come in their thousands to observe a repetition of the great obsession of the last twenty years. Love it. :thumbsu:

make that 25 years or one more. huh

So where were you when Hawthorn couldn't beat Essendon for a whole 8 years?

24-18 record in the last 25 years, as you mentioned ... doubt we're the ones with the obsession.

It seems you need to step inside your time machine in order to change history....

You reckon? It seems to me like that's exactly the thing that won't be necessary, due to it having made you 16falgwagoners look more than shabby enough already as it is.:thumbsu:

hawfforn were winning flags when 80% of the league was bankrupt and you want to talk lame.
It's arguments like that that give me the licence. If we were so much richer than the rest of the comp, how come we almost folded 5 years after our last flag of the era?

It took Essendon to curb the domination for 2 years.

efa.

Yeah, I've seen 4 live. Don't really remember '88 though, luckily I can actually connect with the rest of our flag wins due to the fact that they all came in the era of television.

My point was, that there is a disturbingly large amount of essendon fans who seem to have jumped on as a direct result of the bragging rights afforded them by the extra flags they won pre-1925, who none the less couldn't name 5 players who retired before 1980 without googling it.

You sound like one of those, to me.

Roy Laing, my great uncle, played in Essendon's 23 and 24 premierships, John Coleman, Bill Hutchison, Dick Reynolds and Ken Fletcher. There's 5.

You do realise that Essendon haven't won a flag without cheating the salary cap since the inception of said cap? You're officially an AFL irrelevance.

We'll talk again when you win one without cheating.

You know you cheated the cap also and were fined for it.

Is cheating and not winning a flag better or worse than winning one?

Hawthorn have only been done for very minor breaches once or twice.

Essendon were scapegoats. We were paying players ala Judd with VISY and we didn't make appropriate disclosures. It was poor management on Essendon's behalf but questions could be asked how Hawthorn nearly went broke mid-way through the 90s after being on top of the heap through the 80s. Just because Essendon were caught doesn't mean they were the only club in breach of the salary cap rules.

Brendan Edwards, Graham Arthur, Peter Hudson, Don Scott.... um... and my old great great uncle Albert Winnimaker who played in the wooden spoon side in 1927.

Err... physical challenge? Using your right hand, rub your head in a clockwise motion, with your left hand, rub your stomach in an anti-clockwise motion.
