Really hanging for next season now. I mean, having high hopes and wanting wins is par for the course, but I'm really curious to see how this handover pans out.

How discernible will the difference in playing styles be? Will Cox look to manufacture some "edge" into the group? Is he looking for change in the leadership group? Which players does he appreciate more or less than Horse did? Will some players struggle with the transition even if they maintain their place in the pecking order? How does the shake-up impact the coaching box?

Then there's big Dean himself. How does he cope with the increased workload and responsibility, the scrutiny he'll be subject to from game one, facing up to the media?

Couple of things that are of particular interest to me.... does he see a role for Adams and... does Ben Mathews become a more prominent figure on game-day.

It's really hard to know what to expect but I'll be cheering him on. Be nice if in another 14 years we're celebrating the retirement of another Swan's legend.

Exciting times. The human behaviour study will be worth the price of admission alone.
Interesting question about Adams. Could he become the de facto midfield coach? Two years to go, a very expensive VFL player but perhaps he might enjoy a value adding role to prepare for coaching after retirement.

Very comforting to hear they will be focusing on pressure. That forward line will need a rejigging if it’s going to apply pressure though.

Will definitely be a change to our tall forward set up.

Won't be able to carry both McLean and Amartey there

Just saying if Cox can achieve success with this group within the next 2-3 years it would be a huge stain on Longmire

Was it a huge stain on Roos when Longmire won in 2012?

If Cox gets a flag in the next few years then if anything it reflects on Longmire well for not only building but also developing the list.

Apparently will be training as a defender
The only worry with this is that he is our most mobile tall forward, so if you take him out and say play McLean and Amartey inside 50, it means we don't have a single tall who can get from A to B before the time it takes to listen to "November Rain" in its entirety.

I’m just going off eyes and foggy memory, but I reckon Amartey applied more forward half pressure than Logan.

McLean on the other hand, you could play the titanic before he gets from A to B 🤣

If we drop to two talls and have a bunch of smalls buzzing about, I think the mobility of the talls becomes less crucial.

I have a hypothesis that key position players will be needed, but one less on each end of the ground. But also that they will revert to being more like key position players of old, big buggers that can throw their weight around, especially up forward. I’m not sure the tall quick forwards are dominating as many initially expected, myself included.

Absolutely laughable if Logan moves to defence.

Punished because the other 2 statues lack any sort of athleticism

Outside of Logan playing some time back this year (more of a late swingman type of role).

Where has it been said by Cox that his training in defence this pre-season or moving there?

God some of you are muppets sometimes. The boards resident Eeyore impersonator posts a thought bubble about McDonald and you're wetting the bed. It may turn out true but Jesus Christ, it's easy to see how the flat earth theory has managed to stick around.
So Gerard Healy is a muppet/bed-wetter for saying last week that he'd heard the same thing?

No, the people who jump on the slightest suggestion like it's the end of the world still are. I'll give you credit though, at least you said you hope it isn't true instead of taking it as fact immediately though.

Logan to play CHB if true would be only trialed in practice matches I would think, perhaps T.Mac to the forward line is another they can trial.

I thought Tmac up forward would still have worked, but why would we change him back?

He didn't have his best year, with some further concussion interruptions, but he wasn't as bad as our lack of defensive pressure up the ground made him out to be.

Just leave them where they are Coxy.

I would have thought one of the perks of being the head coach is that you can delegate the dirty jobs to the minions...
