i have noticed that there are a few people on this board who are not big solomon fans, but i for one am a massive wrap for the guy, he showed against richmond that he wants to atone for his moment of madness and really prove his worth for us in 09. he tackles hard, he doesnt take a backward step and i think that the young boys playing around him stand taller when he is lining up next to them.... that being said, where do most see him playing next year? what role? personally i think he will play mainly in the forward line, possibly on the flank, however i think that he is a good pinch hitter, no pun intended, in the midfield, if he could go into the middle on occassions, it could free up pav to play forward a bit more... what are peoples thoughts?

I'm a big Solly fan. He is important for our team and I see him playing half forward, or forward flank. However, he will forever be remembered by the masses for his 'elbow to ranga' manoeuvre, which is a shame. If I was a first year player at freo, I would feel happy and safer standing next to Dean in the team.

Shut up shitemuppet, not surprised you were not only the first to reply to this thread but it only took you 8 minutes.

Solly is a great asset to our team, a terrific leader and hard as nails.

You aren't a Freo fan if you don't like Solly, nuff said.

While I'm going down the Memories track lately, I might as well agree with shitemuppet.

Nah... love Solly. Under rated IMO. :thumbsu:

Wish some of our other players would give as much of a toss.

If Solly is to play the match committee will need to take a hard line on any acts of ill discipline. 50m penalties and umpire reports can no longer be tolerated. The stream of untoward incidents instigated by Solly and our little mate Josh looked like a big distraction to the team last season. To an extent all Freo players became tarred with their dirty brush in the eyes of the umpires.

Amen to that. A pity some other supporters aren't able to keep their hands off it when the name Solomon comes up.

if thats the case the umpires need to be seriously looked at and changes need to be made.....

Soloman is a great player for the Dockers, can play in the forward line, in the centre and even fill in in the backline, hopefully puts in a ripper year for the Dockers and gets a contract extension at the end of 2009. Young players walk taller with him in the side.

His 2 main attributes : for me are :

Solly knows how to kick to advantage... in the forward line, verse the bombing it up..

He wins the feking ball.........He is a ball winner.... He does whatever it takes to win the ball or neutrualize it. He throws his body in to do it....

I rate these the top two skills to winning...

Love him - hard at it and I bet we won't see him in front of the tribunal this year.

I'd like to see him off half forward personally and pinch hit in the middle.

He is just a hard at it SOB and he will teach a lot of the kids during the week and then protect them on the weekends.

Any Freo fan that is anti the Solmeister seriously has no eye deer.

One brain snap aside, Solly plays the game exactly how I wish all our players would. I just hope his desperation and commitment to the cause rubs off on all our new kids.

Anyone who doesn't appreciate the effort Solly puts in for this club doesn't deserve to ever see us win a premiership. I would have killed for someone like him to stand up and lead the way during our early years when we were routinely smacked around the oval like a bunch of red headed stepchildren.

So yeah, I'm a bit of a fan.

Would be one of my first picked every week.. Hardest at it, at the club.. good skills.. great role model in general.

One of the few mature trades i have been happy with the return

Okay.

Yes it's better to have the thugs on your side aiming at the opposition.

Reality is that Solomon is charge of his own destiny, and was extremely lucky to have got himself a new one year contract. If he wasn't mates with Harvey that would not have happened. Big, strong and fearless players are always a welcome addition to a team, but mongrel hits to the head are not fearless, they are gutless, and they also tend to make you unavailable for long periods of time.

You're joining the Thought Police posters too Esti.

Being smacked around by guys like Solomon you mean? Instead of "killing for someone" Esti, the other option of course is that the AFL have the courage to enforce protection of the head from guys like Solomon.

If your red head comment is a reference to Ling then it is a disgrace.

Going on Solly's NAB game he still looks like he can play a role for us this season. His hit on Ling was a brain snap and not the way he usually goes about it.
