Geez even if Carlton improve, if they don't make the 8 - the fact they have zero draft hand is pretty dire. That's not just a coach killer, but if they sunk low enough - that could cause waves through their whole list management department or higher.

Like imagine getting bottom 4-6 and then having absolutely nothing at the draft table. The beating the media / fans will give the higher ups will be brutal.

Early days yet - and expect they will win a few of the next ones - but they have set themselves up for an all or nothing season with their draft trading.

If Eagles want 3 first round picks we can surely turn pick 1/2 to three 2025 first rounders. Their choice, take pick 1/2 or we can get 3 1st rounders.

Suns have 3 first rounders(Port/Suns/Pies) and their gun academy player is likely to be top 3. Surely they will exchange their top 3 picks+F1 for pick 1/2.

Surely if you can give up Carltons 1st and 2nd, and walk away with a first round pick and christian petracca you do it?

They have lost by 13, 20 and 8 points.

Just ran out of puff in the final quarter every time.
Its not conditioning. Voss' gameplan is literally Brisbane from 2001-2003 - bash in to each contested pack. But he hasn't figured out the Carlton engine room doesn't have Simon Black, Lappin and Akermanis on the outside :drunk:

Perhaps their conditioning team were scared out of their minds about soft tissue injuries from last season and didn't push them hard enough to run out games...

I don't think Carlton should panic.
They have not been bad at all.

Agree. They've not been bad. Just not good enough.

Their at there cliff/peak and it will take two years to rebuild and have the right list to even contend. With no success to show for it will be interesting what that means for morale in games across the year.

A lot of hard games ahead. The only issue is now we have to hear about it all week

They’ll win games. The year is so long, they could easily win their next 3 and be back level and somewhere close to the 8.

Tbh their list just isn’t that good though. If you look at their bottom 6 or 7 players, ask yourself how many would get a game for any side in the Saturday night games. Young, Evans, Boyd, Cowan, Haynes, even guys like McGovern and Fogarty. How many would get picked for GWS on Saturday?

It’s like 1/3 of an AFL side that’s pure deadwood, their list build is what it is

Their supporters know it. Some of their supporters are calling for TDK and Cripps to be traded to get back their draft hand.

They’re reliant on 6 good players - if they stay fit then they are a mid table side … but they will always be a couple of injuries away from being a bottom 4 side.

It looked like they played quicker last night
They did in the first half but got tired and reverted to slow stodgy footy after that.
And I reckon Footscray's defense was so bad in that first half it made Carlton look faster than they are. It was a very un-congested game.

How the hell did they have 200+ pressure all night against us, but tonight they reverted to suburban footy intensity?
Conditions helped.

Fast track at Marvel makes for more open footy and skill errors aren’t necessarily due to actual pressure but inferred.

Our game last Thursday was in pretty slippery conditions with far more congested play.

I think the pressure acts measurement can be a bit misleading at times.

Sure, and sometimes the pressure exists when skills are low and play becomes more congested.

In terms of vibe (my vibe) - Carlton looked like a finals side against us and a bottom 6 team last night.

Their upcoming fixture isn't the easiest, Eagles and Saints and maybe North look like their opportunities to win.

Based on current form taking them to the bye.
Pies - Loss
Eagles - Win
North @ Marvel - Loss
Cats @ MCG- Loss
Crows @ AO - Loss
Saints @ MCG - Win
Swans @ SCG - Loss
GWS @ Marvel - Loss

Could be staring down 2/9 or 3/8 come the bye
Saints could be a loss too if they play like they did against Geelong.
