FOS what a spud

Night and day talent difference between him and Lalor. Don't need a ton of games to see that.

Pretty sure some here wanted FOS at 1 even though he couldn't win the ball at junior level.

No Bont, Treloar, Jones, Weightman, JUH and JJ…. and lost Smith, Daniel and Macrae in off-season …and still couldn’t knock em off.

They look rudderless and their defence is just shambolic. They’ll improve and win a bunch of games, but looking at their draw would be staggered if they finish better than twelfth (pick seven) based on what I saw tonight. And twelfth is absolute best case for Roos. Bottom four looks more likely.

12th would be a bad result for us from here. As you said, their draw is brutal for a bottom side and theyve sold the Perth games as well.

If they dont beat Melbourne next week, I really cant see them getting more than 6-7 wins at best and its giving them a lot of improvement on recent years.

6-7 wins will finish 16th. To get up to 12th they will need around 11-12 wins going on recent years (Dees 14th last year with 11 wins). They would need an absolute miracle to get that.

Let's just say we get on a run, we actually play pretty well this year, exceed expectations and finish 13th. The North just capitulate and finish bottom. We walk in to the draft with 1 and 6. But North who think they were getting pick 19 end up with pick 24 which I'm pretty sure this year is getting wiped out by academy selections so will probably push out to like 32. This could prove to be one of the worst trades in history for them.

Watched Norf game and I’m doubling down on 5 wins this year.
The players they’ve bought in are on their last legs and in Daniel’s case little hurt factor.
They have 2 guns LDU and Larkey.
One thing that struck me looking at the list, is for all the picks they’ve had, there’s no KPPs.
And apart from Wardlaw I just don’t see any game changers.

Daniel actually had a shocker....butchered the footy and gets exposed defensively.

Parker is an experienced head in their midfield but such a backward step to go down that path rather than back their top end draft picks.

Darling funnily enough was the last one in and probably helps the structure a bit for Larkey.

I get they needed to bring in some experience, but just saying I don’t think the inclusions are going to translate into many extra wins. Structurally they might help, but I don’t think the list is good enough to rise as quickly as some are suggesting.

The competition is so even, and pretty much everyone is improving or staying competitive. Norf very well could improve, but still be bottom 3.
Long term I think they’re destined for late-mid ladder finishes. They’ve had enough picks to build an ok list, but how many generational players do they have.
Re Daniel I’m not a fan. He’s an accumulator, neat foot skills, but he’s not quick and easily exposed in the back half due to his size.

Is Larkey a gun or just Ben Brown mkII?

Said it last year when the norf fan was telling us they wouldn’t trade 2 (they clearly would have but expected overs), there young KPP stocks are non existent. From memory 2 players 195cm+ were 22 or younger who weren’t rucks. The rest (larkey, coot etc..) all 27+ and don’t fit the timeline very well.

They’ve fallen into the GWS trap of just taking mids and pushing them to flanks. The difference being GWS had way more picks due to their ability to keep swapping out players for 1st rounders. Norf can’t afford to lose any talent.

They’ve already got their midfield set, they had to trade out pick 2 for trainor/tauru and Armstrong/faull/whitlock to get their list better balanced.
