He misses one more match.
I can't see how this Melbourne forward line could kick a winning score.

Nope, 1 match ban and will play next week.

Since the fixtures came out I was glad as it meant a game where he wouldn’t try to kill one of our blokes, then the AFL came out with this opening round BS.

I'd actually explore the same backline we used in the Hawks practice game, Jones as the big boy with a mixture of Coff/Buku/Ed floating as our mediums, considering the forward line that Melbourne have.

Bring JOD in when we have 2 real gorillas to attend with, no tall forward at Melbourne scares me.

Edit: After re-watching the game tonight, I'm fully confident that we can smash Melbourne.

Buku would be ideal if he could, but that match up would really worry me. Probably Ed.
JOD - Schache
Jones - Van Rooyen

I would consider leaving Buku out given they lack a genuine third tall and bringing in an extra ball user. Coffield and Ed can cover Fritsch but we’d need Buku in the following weeks.

Their forward line looked abysmal so they might try McDonald this week.

May always sticks to Naughton. Tomlinson has gone to JUH recently. They’ll have Lever on Lobb, or a smaller defender like McVee with Lever loose.
Yep, May has always gone to Naughton but will be interested to see if the plan is for Naughton to take him right up the ground.

I’d be surprised if Schache survives that game, he was no good. Dees had no aerial impact up forward. McDonald and Fullerton were both emergencies and I imagine one or both come in with Schache out.

Yeah Naughty is playing a lot higher at the moment so that will trouble May, if he’s playing deep on Marra we just have to get the ball into space and Marra can burn him, can’t be kicking to the contest much though.

Even tho their forwards suck I’d still want both Buku & JOD in, if we can play Buku loose off a crap opponent that’s a win for us. Jones to JVR, JOD to Schache, Buku/Coff can both have a crack at Fritsch with the other one chopping out the rest of the backline.

I suspect if their midfield get on top they'd be looking to attack through there. Viney looks like he's added goalkicking to his skillset and we know Trac is a goal kicker.

I hope so. Their marking forwards don't bother me at all. Their ground ball game does concern me

No... he got 1 week so he will be back
My mistake I misread the injury/suspension list on the afl website.

Fritsch and Pickett are always a concern, hopefully the shorter defence can get the job done.
I'd have Coffield on Fritsch
Jod on Schache/Fullerton
Jones on Van Rooyan
Richards on Pickett and making him Accountable on the rebound.
Buku intercepting and Dale rebounding.

A lot of grubby ground balls coming in from Sydney, May and Lever didn’t have much influence.

Pickett is out for one more week IIRC

Don't think so

He got one week. He's now served that.

Melbourne board also has him in
Ah fair enough. He is a big worry for us

According to the afl website we are correct
Nope, was a 1 match suspension. I'd suggest Melbourne saying 'Round 2' is just confusion as a result of the Round 0 crap and actually means their 2nd game of the season (being Round 1).

Presume we can add Bowey to that injury list too now after last night.
