The funny thing is, I do actually agree with the argument that if you can't (for whatever reason) draft elite midfielders, than "elite ball users off the half back flank" is the next best thing. It's an argument he's made before and one I've backed.
My issue with it is that we haven't been able to do that either. Hurn was 17 years ago, Shep was 13 years ago, and we ignored Jetta when we could have grabbed him for bugger all when he first qualified for the draft and he tore us apart in a scratch match. Ben Jonson had big wraps for his ball use, and we delisted him without playing a game.
