Now be fair. Vossy's big signing was a 110 kg Brendan Fevola which might have worked if Queensland had no casinos, no TABs and no bars. The comparisons to the “Crazy Vossy” era are hilarious. We aren’t bringing in Amon Buchanan, Andrew Raines and Brent Staker to be our best 3 players! FFS
If just one has a couple cracker seasons it has paid off. 1 year contract they will be busting to prove to the club they are in our best 22. Just delist next year if does not workAs long as Trengove, Thomas and Mackenzie are only on one year deals who gives a shit what opposition supporters say? It's 100% the right decision for now and the future.
Look at our list and there isn't much fat to cut next year when we have a bunch of picks. If we draft kids at pick 60+ now we are stuck with them for 2 years.
Pick 12 ---------- Charlie Cameron!Someone over on the lions board made a quip that port are doing what Voss did in the '09/10 off season. I have to agree, it looks like Voss is up to his old tricks again! Hope it fairs a bit better for port than it did for us though. Has real potential to get ugly...
Thanks for the insight great post.Brad and Lindsay are incredibly close, almost like a Father/Son type thing. Brad helped him through some incredibly trying off field times over the last few years, battling bouts of mental health issues with the way he was treated in the media as well as issues in his personal life that were never reported.
There are a few players that are ahead of Lindsay now due to moving into rebuild mode finally and both Lindsay and the Club could see that a move back home would be good for him Professionally as well as Personally. So the club went out of it's way to find a way to get him there at personal expense to itself. It's the same thing we will likely be doing for Swallow, he has given us great service and now wants to play with his brother, so we're considering letting him walk to GC via DFA.
For all the shit slung at North, we are a Family, not just a club. We look after our own.
Those of you who are unsure about bringing him over because of his 'reputation', you'll come around, it's vastly over stated. Wasn't even in the top 20 for head high frees during the time the media were having a go at him.
Guy is a consummate professional, hard trainer, hard player and we've rarely seen a player so welcoming to young/indigenous kids at the club, as mentioned earlier he regularly has the first and second year players over to dinner with his young family to ensure that they immediately feel part of the club.
You'll love him too, I promise, because we're going to miss him.
It’s hilarious how dumb opposition supporters are. As soon as you clearly move in the right direction, or do things that are better than what their clubs are doing they’ll try to dismantle you.
Comparisons to Crazy Vossy, Richmond a few years ago or North are ridiculous. They brought in spuds to be best 22 player with average, or in some cases very old lists and poor salary cap management.
We have by absolutely no means an old list, have plenty of cap space to sign our young guns, have heaps of young talent (of which most supporters would have no idea how good they are looking, I.e Clurey, DBJ, Houston, Howard etc.) and have given up nothing to obtain these guys.
They can find any reason to try discredit it but the simple facts are, we brought in 3 very high upside best 22 players, lost no good young talent, lost no cap space in regards to what’s come out and what’s come in, have replaced depth players who have proven they won’t make it with experienced depth (who, if they don’t work out can be delisted and replaced with 6 picks before the 4th round next year in the super draft) and high upside zero risk players for next year.
It’s equisite list management and every team would be wishing they’d done the same if they were in our position last year. It gives us a realistic chance at winning a premiership over the next 3-4 years and also allows us to continuing developing our young guns (wines, Wingard, spp, Houston, DBJ, Howard, marshall and whoever we draft next year). Could not have asked for a better off-season and the idiocy or fear (in the guys who are actually smart enough to see what we’ve done) from opposition supporter is delicious to see.
mwahhhhh look at you trying to make your self feel better. poor little cherub.I wouldn't have so much faith in rocky's body mate. Has missed a fair chunk of football through injury over his career
nice sentiment from a loyal supporter ... still support your guys on the wayout rather than shit canning them and oh they were never any good anyway and you just signed a spud type comment.. can see that you are a true supporterBrad and Lindsay are incredibly close, almost like a Father/Son type thing. maybe .. but we are replacing depth = insurance = tilt at snaflTrent McKenzie is the only one that will get a game in my view barring a major injury toll

Trade out our depth = lol Poorts have no depth, bring on the injuries
Bring in AFL quality depth = lol Poorts, Crazy Vossy has taken over they are ******
I'm alright with what we are doing this year knowing these guys wont be in our first 18 unless they earn it
Weve still got as good depth as almost any club in the league in terms of afl experience and youth coming through
And Fevola came in a trade which saw Lachie Henderson traded and Daniel Bradshaw and Michael Rischitelli become disgruntled after being offered as trade bait and leave the club. Now be fair. Vossy's big signing was a 110 kg Brendan Fevola which might have worked if Queensland had no casinos, no TABs and no bars.
