It's illegal to bring in a player not listed 24 hours before the game either onfield or as an emergency. But the sub could always come from any of the players named 24 hours before the match, it's just rare that it ends up being a player named to start. I think the club leaked like a sieve during this week to the media, Bevo got fed up, tried to play some 4D chess about Hunter and ultimately it didn't make a lick of difference.

So we'll get fined?

I dont understand the rationale behind giving up 5 meters when the umpire wont call play on if the player with the ball doesn't deviate off the line.

Its smacks of being ******* clever for the sake of being ******* clever. When in reality its ******* stupid.

I can see most teams trying something like this. If you're not on the mark, you don't have to stand on it. Obviously they see this as a better option than doing the 'standing'.

Typical AFL. Introduce a rule to 'force' a change in playing style. Coaches take about 5 minutes to find a work around for it.

He was ready to throw hands. Never seen a coach get to that point. Trust is a big thing for him and you can tell he’s gutted and betrayed by the lack of.

It was compounded by the fact Morris did the same thing in the GF leaking our team early to help Melb plan.

With 90 mins to go, we named one out (Martin) and two ins (Crozier and Gardner) which we needed to in order to have 23 including a sub. Hunter was named in the 22 the day before the game, but when the sub was called it was him. He isn't "out" of the team at that point. Rather, we just haven't named our 23rd player yet. Then during warm up JJ went out and Hunter shifts back to starting and JUH came in as the sub.

I doubt anyone on the other side would have blinked or cared.......if that was a tactic from us we are in serious trouble.

Gotta love Bevo's passion, but I would have preferred he took the "empty chair" approach with this one - as much as Morris may deserved it (like all clickbait specialists).

So you CAN simply pull out someone from the 22 and replace them with a sub, even if nothing's wrong with them.

The late change deadline 90 mins before play makes a mockery of the team sheet 24 hours earlier. Magnets can go up and down with impunity if coaches want to play games. Makes it really hard to attempt fantasy football which I used to do but gave up a couple of lockdowns ago.

Can’t tell me that the best solution we could come up with all preseason was Schache & Cordy swapping between CHF & CHB every 10 minutes? What the actual **** is that.

Timmy was brilliant I thought but give him a ****ing partner, if Sweet sits on the bench for 60% of the game but gives Timmy a chop out it’s still more useful than the merry go round of sloppy half forward flankers and midfielders trying to play half forward.

I’ve been super positive about our list going into this year as our top end is that good, and we probably will best most sides due to our midfield but geez we’re asking a lot against the top sides when we structure up like that. Naughty would have kicked 10 in a decent forward line tonight, was marking everything but we literally couldn’t get the ball to him.

Ditch the likes of Hannan & Rourke on the wings/flanks. Play Timmy/Sweet 50/50 ruck forward and for **** sake just play Jamarra - he’s not going to offer any less than Cordy/Schache and can actually improve with some game time. Settle around Keath, Gardner and one other tall, probably O’Brien when he’s fit, down back.

What is libbas role? If it’s to play half forward he doesn’t get a game for mine, and he’s not pushing any one out of the midfield.

It’s round 1 and we won’t play that bad again, there was some brilliant individual improvement in Naughty, Timmy & Baz, but some major major structural flaws that I just don’t see Bevo changing

Maybe Bevo should focus on where he and the team went wrong tonight, lashing out at a journo does more harm than good. Not sure what he thinks he is doing there, if Morris got a leak, then maybe go after the leaker. I'd like to see the full presser if there is a slim chance it adds any context, but that is really disappointing.
