Would it be possible and practical to apply the Brownlow vote halving for 76 and 77 in the team detailed player record screen, as it is in the Brownlow screen?

Having the doubled totals for those two seasons throws things out a bit when making a quick comparison of a team's players.

Actually, just on this theme, I've noticed a few issues with the brownlow vote count on the the team player totals screen.

The Carlton page, for instance, includes Val Perovic's votes at another club, while on the Collingwood page it doesn't seem to include votes from the recently-added seasons, although other stats are added correctly

Oh poo. Looks like I've got some work to do, I just noticed another little glitch on the players' pages as well. Bah.

However I will probably keep the unadulterated totals intact.

Some stats of the 1958 Grand Final (kicks/marks/frees for/against) were carried in The Age
http://news.google.com.au/newspapers?id=VyUQAAAAIBAJ&sjid=6pQDAAAAIBAJ&pg=2880,3420802

Basic stats such as those were often reproduced in the newspaper for Grand Finals and other important games from the 1930's through to the systematic stats record starting in 1965. Frustratingly though, it's only for the big games and sporadic other games that we see them.

Still, it's great to see some of the figures for the pre-1965 years, and of course to have fifty years of full stats from 1965.

"Fairfax Media understands a working party chaired by commission chairman Mike Fitzpatrick has accepted that the origins of the AFL competition should be backdated about a quarter of a century, from 1897 to as early as 1870 - the year Melbourne won the first recorded premiership."

Jeepers 1870?!, those stats would be hard to find :)

Greetings all. Sorry I've been away for a few months and unable to help with stats project. My Dad died in April after short illness, and close family ties meant I was at country farm when not at my principal job. Farm had no 'net access until recently (and truth be told forums and research were not a major part of day-to-day thoughts).

Will look forward to sharing info and searching for answers to share.

Cheers
Ross

Quick question - per the site, in 1999 did games in Perth really start post 10pm Melbourne time?

e.g. Freo v Haw R3 1999, start time 10:40pm in Melbourne. Wouldn't have finished until after 1am AEST time. Pretty sure I watched this game but I don't remember it being so late! That's not to say it didn't of course, just seems odd.

Just noticed sometimes the Perth games in 1999 didn't finish until nearly 2am Monday morning AEST!

I guess it depends on what the dates were and how Daylight Savings in the east affected them (noting that a couple of trials aside, we don't have Daylight Savings).

10:40 start over east is a standard 7:40 night start time over here.

But yes, still odd!

They're not right. It appears my source mixed local and AEST times together, or I mucked it up - or something. I've just been trying to untangle some 1997 times, there's not much online to go on, and what there is rarely makes clear which time zone they're talking about.

It may require some time in front of the microfiche machine, which doesn't bode well for a quick resolution.
