Not too bright either
I like to think I know a bit about my own league and its history and if you are going to slag off a club you should find out the facts
though a long time ago mont did win in 1979

there are some other clubs not to have won a flag in that same time frame, does that make them pathetic too? or is this just an attack on mont?

one year out, sorry funpolice. there are many teams who are underachieving, i would pull them into line to, but they don't get on here big noting themselves how this year is different, they have recruited well and are going to win a premiership.

That's okay bigbad feel free to make stupid comments that are not factually correct ... no one will pull you up.

last time I checked - talking about recruits and your teams chances for the season ahead.. was what this forum is all about?

Dribbler.

as for fun police..no..love a good fun time...when people are having fun
:)

Just heard DV executive has resigned en masse

Yep they have all resigned.

Believe the delegate meeting tomorrow will be to support the motion of their resignations & to support motion of Robert Tregear (footy vic chairman) as interim president and Darryl Collings (from footy Vic) as interim treasurer.

Big news

No, i'm not sure that you are from mont, You probably live in Greensborough.

However, you certainly seem to have a soft spot for Monty, not too dissimilar to the Wet spot that J&B has for them. LOL.
:thumbsu:

cant help but have a loving spot for a team that wears black and white stripes. after all i do support collingwood. :thumbsu:

as for J&B's wet spot, is that the one left behind at the bottom of LTN1 every home game? He really should clean that up before he leaves

I did play for the slime many a year ago, but no not living there, not any more
:)

Attn: Duran Duran.

Stop ringing Diamond Creeks gun ruckman Brad Phelan. Who would want to leave such a gun club like DCFC for a underachieving club like Mont? Just because Grimes is coming to creek and ottens has retired doesn't mean you can poach our man Phelan.

Gun ruckman!!! That's funny...:D

fllody & his girl were ask to resign on monday & did so,as for lloyd he didnt recontest his position due to liver complaints.
delwyn berry taken over as interim secretary until delegates meeting thursday night.
worth noting that rumour of some money gone missing to the tune of
5oo+ i believe.
until the next rumour....

Benny will be good, great bloke to have a piss up with if the Portsea training camp was anything to go by, gets along with the boys well and obviously is a good player. And Ace has been at watsy for 8 years and has probably been our best player while I have been there. Looking forward to a good season.

Good appointment for the Wats. Ace started playing there prob 8 years ago, Force, but hasnt played there for 8 years. He gave the Bullants a fair crack one year, as well as having a crack at Divvy 1 with N.Park. He didnt play too much at Wats in his first year, was with the U/18's knights and only played 3 games with Wats. Although i think he got 3 BOG's. So looks like his 5 or so years at the club has got him the respect he deserves, and elevated him upto Skipper. Lets hope his body will hold out for him better this year, and he can contribute on match day as much as possible. How long has Benny been at the club? Seems to have done well to get the nod for joint skipper if he hasnt been there for too long.

Some of the Mont boys around here might be interested to know that Ben Parker has been appointed co-captain of Watsonia for the upcoming season, sharing the role with Marc "Ace" Ventura.

He'd be due for another club now wouldn't he?

Left us in under 15s after we lost two games in a row...

Has anyone seen this? I found it on leader newspapers website...

Resignation shock for footy league

By Lee Crossley and Michael Rogers

14Feb07

THE DIAMOND Valley Football League is in turmoil after key members of its administration were asked to resign by Football Victoria.

Clubs will be asked to accept the resignations of key members, including president Roy Ward, at a special general meeting on Tuesday night.

A memo sent to all DVFL clubs on Tuesday afternoon revealed Ward, the league’s longest-serving president, would be replaced by Football Victoria chairman Bob Tregear as interim president.

The memo listed other members who would be asked to resign.

Football Victoria club development manager Darryl Collings would step in as interim treasurer, the memo says.

It is unclear why Football Victoria has asked for the resignations.

But Ward said Football Victoria had asked for the resignations due to a "pressing issue" that had recently come to light.

When asked if the matter involved the league’s finances, Ward replied: "We have a huge problem and you’re not far wrong.

"Let me get this straight - we’re not broke, but finances are associated with the problem.

"I’d like to give you more, but in fairness to the clubs, they need to know first before I fill your front page."

Ward said he was reluctantly tendering his resignation after 28 years as president.

"I’m not happy to resign because I’ve done nothing wrong," he said.

"I haven’t been party to anything that happened that has led to this situation.

"You might say that as president, I should have known what was going on, but you can’t know everything."

Ward said league treasurer Lloyd Hansen tendered his resignation to the executive late last year, due to ill health.

Secretary Peter Floyd had tendered his resignation earlier this week Ward said.

Ward said the league’s financial woes were unrelated to the Football Victoria review that is being conducted by former Eastern Football League chief executive Craig Braddy.

It is believed Braddy’s findings will be revealed to club presidents at Tuesday’s special general meeting.

Last December, Football Victoria declared it would conduct a ``wide-ranging review of the structure, administration and future strategic direction’’ of the DVFL, following Heidelberg’s failed attempt to move to the EFL.

Ward said "lots of changes" were in store for the Diamond Valley Football League as a result of the review.

The first casualty will be the delegate-based system of administration, to be replaced by an autonomous board of executives.

"The league needs a board that has power, rather than a board that is told by the clubs what to do," Ward said.

Reported on SEN News (Same as 3AW) that Football Victoria was investigating D.V.F.L. League Secretary over mis appropriation of funds. If proven I would doubt that there was only one culprit, surely the rest of those cronies were in on it as well. To plead ignorance is laughable and also highlights the lack of accountability of the Delegate`s and there governance over the League and it`s head honcho`s over many a year. In our meeting with Football Vic it was highlighted that on comparison with the E.D.F.L which is almost indentical in size of teams and players as the Valley, the Valley turned over just over one million dollars and ran at a loss of forty grand with wages of $78000, the EDFL turned over $900000 with wages of $180000 and turned a $60000 profit with $400000in trust and term deposits. I`m tipping when presented with this info, plus much more there was only one way for them to jump.

Hopefully the changes that will be proposed such as a Board of Management, which will take the power away from a bunch of brain dead delegates as well as other changes which will allow the comp to get back on it`s feet and bolt out of the eighties into the modern era, will be accepted and supported by all and sundry because if not then the comp will be finished. Football Victoria have taken the lead here, so lets make sure we support them and return the comp to a position of strength.

As for the people who have been alleged of wrongdoing, personally I am not a vindictive person, I don`t condone what they have done but I don`t wish them any ill feeling, forgiveness is far better than hate. Lets get on with it and hopefully plenty of rain is not far away and we support our clubs and the League.

Might have to check the situations vacant in Satdy's paper!!!

Here Here Brutal,
not the time to be makeing stipid accusations of kiddie pr0n etc but the time to get behing the new admin and help get the comp back into shape, on and off the field....
the only problem i have is what the hell is everyone going to complain about on bigfooty if the new admin do there job properly, it will cut down the postings by half without the old d i c k heads to complain about. ;)

So who took all the DVFL money??? How many people were involved? Does this mean an increase in fees to the clubs..

Poor Poor form if you ask me

Any chance I could get my fifteen bucks back that I paid to see the Granny last year. Which one of you bastards has got that?;)

"The league needs a board that has power, rather than a board that is told by the clubs what to do," Ward said.[/quote]

Yeah, a board that has the power to rob the competition, the clubs and community blind, to the tune of a rumoured 500K.

That'll be all from you Roy... ;)

Some good points there Brutal, but if there has been criminal activities, then charges should be pressed. A Board of Management will be good, just like other local leagues, but it will bring additional costs to all clubs.

Well done to Heidelberg for being the ones who started the ball rolling. If they hadn't applied for a move to the Eastern League the whole investigation into the running of the dvfl would never have taken place. We would have continued to cop the incompetence that has taken place over the last five years with the comp being driven further into the ground. Now the opportunity is there for the dvfl to return to their great heights. The majority of the clubs were quick to sink the boots into Heidelberg, but clearly now their action have been vindicated. :thumbsu:

Agreed, but it still bothers me that if heidelberg want all these changes which will be good for the comp why have they put in another application to join the eastern league for 2008. Im sure clubs would get more behind Heidelberg if they withdrew there application

Hey Damien, sounds like you know Ace pretty well. Only said 8 years at Watsy as I was going off what he said at his acceptance speech last thursday, and I agree he has been known to carry alot of niggling injuries in the past so we can only hope his body does hold up cos he could tear the season apart when fully fit. Ace has been at every training session since the start of nov and is looking great so that's comforting.

In regards to Ben Parker he is one of our new recruits and started training with us at the start of November and has showed great leadership skills out on the training track. We have had a few team bonding (drinking) sessions to get to know all the new boys and he has got along with everyone exceptionally well. He is a very skilful footballer and will lead by example as well as offer great advice for the younger ones. He has just started with watsonia hence co-captaincy with the old and the new. They should both do a cracking job.
