The core of this side is so so good but we genuinely * it with our insistence on playing spuds and our gameplan stinks. We should be the best team in the comp by a mile
It isn’t though. Too many blokes not in form. Bont. Treloar. Dunks. The whole backline.

Can someone please tell me how in the f*** that Hogan is killing us on one leg. He's a dud on two legs let alone one.

English is being mauled by a second string ruckman coming back from a knee injury.

Keath is playing in front and has been caught out over the back

JJ getting pinged for running about 17m without a bounce when an average AFL game would probably have a player run 25m twice a game and not get pinged is especially harsh. It's selective interpretation and unlike other claims of "umpiring us cost us a goal" when it's nit literally true, it literally cost us a goal in this instance. Plus, if the spirit of the rule is to make it harder to avoid tackles etc it's even more of a bad decision, it wasn't as if he was about to get tackled to ran more than 15m to avoid it (just like you don't punish players running into an open goal).

I guess it's a strict intepreration, but it's not consistent and they better blow it on GWS the second their player runs a mm over 15m.

JJ been decent. Looks dangerous. Fwd line with actual forwards functioning well. Mids need to get on top and we will win easy.

Jesus ****ing Christ. When you get Callan Ward essentially saying that there is so much opportunity out there because they are pushing forward about our mids. Just says it all really.

I am a fan of the zone defence, but surely you have some more body contact from our KPD's rather than just floating around, as well as body to body tag on Greene.

I hate his guts but the bloke is a gun.
There should always be a mix imo you can’t go completely away from man on man, for example if the balls 60 out manning space does nothing - the balls open and coming in too quick for guarding space to be effective. Man up. If the balls still being contested and the entry will be pressured then yeah zone up

Hence they got smashed in a final.

Nail. Head.

I don’t know wtf happened in the off season, or if the GF had an outsized impact, but the way this team plays and makes decisions is nowhere near what it needs to be.

I don’t think it’s helped by team selection and structure, but there are larger issues at play.
