Wow - the footy sure has heated up the last few days with talk of $ilvan returning under the disguise of Emerald, some bloke coming out of retirement and a sacking before the half way mark.

The footy is hot as well. We had a look at a red hot Wandin on the weekend and Warby and Monbulk continue to prove everyone wrong in that they didn't just fluke a few wins. Be interesting to see who can maintain the hot pace set early on. Lets have a look at this weeks games.

Gembrook V Olinda - 18 Points - Cracker game. Brookers hot and cold at the moment. Hopefully some goal kicking practise this week whilst Olinda's young guns continue to impress. Gembrook back on a large ground where they like the open spaces and haven't lost at home for the last 8 games should see them home.

Healsville V Woori - 25 Points - Healsville could surprise here but I expect Woori's expierience to prevail to ensure they keep touch with the streakers at the top.

Warby V Upwey - 30 Points. WOW, what a game. I think this will be where Upwey will start to stamp themselves on the comp though. Still not 100% convinced on Warby just yet. I think Upwey to go wackyedy wack wack. Might have some egg on my face come Sat night though.

Mt Eve V Mon - DRAW - I seriously have no idea here. Mt Eve struggling after losing last 3 in a row. Monbulk away from home....Did i mention i have no idea here.

Yarra Glen V Wandin - 50 Points. Hasn't this game got some more appeal since comments on this forum? Coach of YG asking if Wandin have the balls to clear blokes? Not sure on YG's thinking if they do go with a bloke who spent all of last year throwing punches and getting sent off. Maybe i do know their thinking. I think the hype will turn into a fizzle and Wandin will show their true class. Barring injuries Wandin to make finals.

Lets hear(read) your thoughts ladies and gents.
 
Hmmm...not sure that my thoughts are worth the paper they're written on; if I were writing on paper that is.

Gembrook vs Olinda - 24 points. Gembrook are doing a great impersonation of Jeckyll and Hyde at the moment. Hopefully the Brookers that turned up to play at their last home engagement against Mt.Evelyn is present again. If they are only slightly off their game though, they can expect a young and enthusiastic Olinda to over run them. The Brookers need to win this to maintain their fight for a spot in the top 4. Lose and they are right back in the pack. Olinda are just looking for that big scalp to kick start their season.They are hungry and capable of providing an upset.

Healesville vs Woori - 12 points. Like everyone I still keep expecting the Woori of old to kick back into gear at some point. I know they aren't quite the same team as last year, but they still have enough quality to suggest that they should still be around the mark come August/September. I'm giving them another chance before I jump off them.

Warby vs Upwey - 1 point. No question that this is the game of the round. The only thing that sways it in Warby's favour in my mind, is the home ground advantage. I'm in no doubt that Warby are a top 2 contender this year as are Upwey. Warby by the narrowest of margins!

Mt.Evelyn vs Monbulk - 20 points. I haven't seen Monbulk as yet, but results obviously don't lie. 2010 is starting to look very much like it was an aberration and 2011 "business as usual" for Monnie. Mt.Evelyn have been up and down like a young bride's nightie so far this season. Even with the home ground advantage, I think I'll go with the away team.

Yarra Glen vs Wandin - 45 points. The mail is that Yarra Glen have been competitive and not to be taken lightly. I guess we'll find out more about them when we play there next week. However, we had our eyes opened and our pants lowered against the Doggies last week. They were super impressive and moved the ball cleanly and with authority. They obviously came with a plan to beat us last week and deservedly took the chocolates. They play their own small ground well, so it will be interesting to see how they handle the broad expanses of Yarra Glen. I think the style of footy they played last week will translate well to the larger ground though, and expect them to eventually account for Yarra Glen.

Gembrook v Olinda FC - Will be a cracker, home side stung after a shock loss, away side finally finding form.
Healesville v Woori - playing for the Stolly Cup ??? H'ville extremely tough to beat at home, Woori will have to play out of their skins.
Warby v Upwey - home ground advantage for mine. Also the formline, Upwey seem a fraction off their best currently.
Mt.Evelyn v Monbulk - same as above, they've gotta come good Mt.Ev. Monbulk are as consistant as any side, heads or tails anyone ??
Yarra Glen v Wandin - genuine toss of the coin, YG must've been v.good last Sunday at The Dome and must back it up, Wandin in v.good form !!

V8 - at least you are having a go - bloody hard to pick 5 winners especially in the rival rd. Bloods got hold of The Stolly Cup, Pigs got hold of Goodwin Cup, Upwey won back the Big Vinnie Cup, Mounters got hold of the bulb festival award and Olinda won the beloved Ice Sculpture Cup from Gembrook. Rd 12 will be a cracker when Mt Ev take on Warby for the Farrugia Cup!

Whats happened to Ship - no impact in two games - come back too early? Also Nathan Brown injured - lack of depth ATM maybe? You nearly picked Healesville - again no depth at Woori with several at a wedding.
Upwey - great tip - did you know Sheers was back? No Draw as Mt Ev found some form after some inhouse fighting. Wrong about Wandin by a fair bit. Your tips are better than most!
 
Yeah Villan, i am in the same boat as many - no idea. I guess the season is so even it just comes down to who is more switched on each week. Ability wise the comp seems to be even. Brown did his Hammy 5 mins in the game the week before against Wandin (Hence Young kicking 8). Have certainly missed him the past two weeks. Ship is coming along ok. Having missed so much footy, it is hard to come back and dominate. I think he will be dominating again in the coming weeks.

Strange Woori players missing games mid season due a wedding. The big fella would be furious. As for Upwey, i knew they had a few back from Eastern who are real quality - again this week. I am really surprised by the Wandin result. Looked at Valley vision and they appeared to kick a few lucky goals as well.

I will be buggered if i can tip with any confidence for the rest of the year. Can't believe sides are eyeing off a top 3 finish whilst also looking over the shoulder re relegation!!!

You mention upwey had a few back from eastern.l hear Volta was at Gembrook and did'nt play.ls he still on the list to play or is he injured?

Yeah he is still on the list. Hope to get him this week if he doesn't get picked for Box Hill seniors. He just needed a week off. He is a real chance of getting drafted - been in super form at Eastern. Great kid as well.

So this is what it all comes down to! I am now the object of pity?

OK. I am gonna try again. The only thing you can take from this is that the teams I pick will be nervous as cats.
Mon v Olinda - Monbulk finally into the slide just as I predicted
Upwey v Heals - Upwey finally showing the finals form just as I predicted
Wand v Warby - Wand finally showing the relegation form just as I predicted
Worri v Mt Ev - Worri finally struggling with a weak list. Just as I predicted
YG v Gem - Gembrook - you owe me you b******s!

All the away teams. Boy am I confident this week.

And the Crows have just got to dump Craig if they ever want to win a game.

Tips this week.

Mon v Olinda - 21 Points - Olinda's young guns will deliver again. Fast, exciting team - only issue with kids is consitency - should be right though for a good win and to continue a creep up the ladder.

Upwey v Heals- 32 Points - Upwey gathering some steam - another week with their Eastern players. Way to strong here.

Wand v Warby- 2 Points - Hard to win at the sand pit. Only Upwey have done it this year.

Woori v Mt Ev - 10 Points - Woori depth an issue (like 1 or two other teams i know!!) - Mt Eve maybe back on track after a few weeks off. I think we will see many teams suffer the Mt Eve syndrome throughout the year.

YG v Gem - 5 points - In form V Out of form - Should mean i tip YG however i hear a little whisper that the brookers have a few surprises this week. Hopefully this gets them up...

Who are Upwey's Eastern players, only one last week Kyle Grenda and I hear he is not playing this weekend
 
Ironic that we were arguing that a club hasn't got a store of cash to offload mid season last week. This week Upwey has signed Gooley from Yarrawonga. Having played up there I can assure you he hasn't come cheap.

Finger he has just returned from Overseas and has chosen to play with his identical twin Sam whilst he returns to study no big bucks involved at all.To all those concerned about our Eastern Players yes we had two last week but only Kyle played Seniors.Liam played Unders

Without any confidence whatsoever, here are my tips (crosses himself as he looks to the heavens with a silent prayer).

Monbulk vs Olinda - Olinda in good form, but Monbulk home ground advantage
Upwey vs Healesville - Upwey the form team in the comp at the moment
Wandin vs Warby - Both teams on the rebound, but Wandin at home. Hard to beat on their own ground at any time.
Woori vs Mt.Evelyn - Both out of form, so go with home team.
Yarra Glen vs Gembrook - We have to turn it around this week!
