Great day at EB, won the Reserves so Choco is back to back as Coach. Lost in the Seniors, WB played better for longer. Great game to watch despite the rain. Clubrooms were full and the Rams sold a heap of Memberships.

Footage is here.

If his jaw is broken, doesn’t bode well for the Boronia player (Harry Burgess)
Not a good look. And he is Captain? Even if he did cop one on the way through you would think a Captain would handle it better and maybe a little jab back but that looks a lot worse than a jab and he continued on so if he was got at first there was nothing in it and didnt stop him playing on asif nothing happened.

Looked to me that two blokes had a crack? Wonder if the goal ump saw it

Hearing the Clokes could be exploring legal options. Not happy to say the least
Fair enough as well, it's football not boxing.

Seriously ?
I wouldnt blame them at all to go the other bloke on a civil suit to pay for any medical operations, trauma, loss of work, etc etc that is on top of standard player insurance! these cowards need to learn the hard way. Dare say this thug will come out and say its out of character blah blah blah but if it was out of character, he wouldve never even thought of doing it!
This thug that hit Cameron Cloke can look at potentially being banned for 16 weeks which is deregistration! he sits out for 12-24 months, then applies to be re-registered and then does it again, gone for good!

Imagine being a club captain and dishing out that kind of weak crap.

If he had any integrity he'd step down as captain.

He'd probably want to start putting his assets into his partner's name if the Cloke's get litigious. Didn't the old man used to love playing with the contracts at re-negotiation time?

Dog act and he deserves everything coming to him. Went on to win the game by a goal after knocking out the opposition's gun key forward, you'd hope he's not proud of himself.

Has he had weeks before? Will be looking at 12-14. I dare say they’ll get him to 15 weeks. Should be life imo.

Considering the media has picked up the story and has a decent enough video to show what happened, you couldn't see them sweeping it under the carpet.

Judging by the quote in this story, doesn't look like the EFNL will look lightly upon this.

Very interested to know if he's been suspended before. Any more than 4 and he could be in trouble.

I wonder how many sob stories about what a great guy he is Boronia will try to roll out.

Very bad look for the league (and club and player) for blokes to be taking out ex-AFL players before the game's even started.

8 weeks confirmed.

Light punishment.

VAFA D4 had an incident last year in which a player was knocked unconscious by one player and received 4 follow up punches while on the ground by another player- 6 and 8 weeks respectively. Would have to be close to a manslaughter to get anything more it seems

What is the club to say then? They were proactive and have to support their player as all clubs will generally do. They didn't condone the incident. The emotion and hysteria about this is over the top. Yes it isn't a great thing in footy but there are far worse things happening in society and in sport that do not get half the publicity.

No comment about Cloke getting reported and what he allegedly did to start the fracas. Whilst the footage showed the response, there has been nothing showing how things allegedly started too. The reporting has been somewhat one dimensional.

I have been around footy at many levels for nearly 40 years and these incidents have occurred throughout my time. With social media and the large amount of often brutal and inaccurate comments/ information these matters escalate to a level that no one would ever anticipate. Social media is certainly 'not social'.

They’ve basically said, there was an incident, we’ve accepted the penalty, and Burgess is a great bloke who plays fair.

It’s a coward punch. Regardless of if there was a prior incident.

I’m sure there is probably a case to suggest it was ‘out of character’, but they needed to come out and say that they absolutely don’t condone violence, and that this was a horrible act that there is no place in the game for.

I’d go as far as saying stick an extra couple of weeks club suspension on top of the leagues suspension to reinforce that message.

8 weeks for effectively ending someones career. with a punch to the face. I hope Cloke presses charges.

That's pitiful by the EFL, have 8 weeks off and come back to have a crack at playing finals. Disgusting.
